Job summary

GEODIS in Edison, NJ is seeking an Ocean Import Account Representative to handle import orders, prepare required export documents, and ensure compliance with international trade regulations. You will coordinate with carriers, vendors, and customer service to ensure accurate, timely shipments and maintain organized export records.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED and at least three years in goods export, with preferred knowledge of letters of credit and ocean freight movements.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 3 years experience in exportation of goods.
• Knowledge of Letters of Credit preferred.
• Knowledge of movement of freight via ocean.
• PC literate with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Access and Excel.

Responsibilities

• Receives and edits import orders.
• Prepares documents such as commercial invoices, export declarations, certificates of origin, letters of credit.
• Prepares international export documents timely and accurately according to customs and customer requirements.
• Arranges shipments through shipper's contracted carriers.
• Reviews domestic and foreign trade regulations.
• Communicates with vendors, government agencies, customers.
• Coordinates with Customer Service Representatives to ensure customer satisfaction.
• Maintains SOP manual of international export requirements for each customer.
• Maintains organized files monthly by customer for all international shipments.
• Provides clerical support including sorting of faxes and documents.

What you'll be doing:

• Receives and edits import orders
• Prepares all necessary documents such as commercial invoices, export declarations, certificate of origin, letters of credit
• Prepares international export documents timely and accurately according to custom's and customer's requirements.
• Arranges shipments through shipper's contracted carriers
• Reviews pertinent domestic and foreign trade regulations
• Communicates with vendors, government agencies, customer
• Coordinates with Customer Service Representatives to ensure customer satisfaction is met
• Maintains SOP manual of international export requirements for each customer and updates as necessary
• Maintains organized files monthly by customer for all international shipments
• Provides clerical support including sorting of faxes and documents and distribution of those documents to team members

Requirements:

• High school diploma or GED (General Education Diploma) equivalency
• Minimum 3 years experience in the exportation of goods or an equivalent combination of both education and experience.
• Knowledge of Letters of Credit preferred
• Knowledge of the movement of freight via ocean
• PC literate with experience with Microsoft Outlook, Work, Access and Excel
