Qualifications

  • Legal Authorization to Work Requirement: The State of Hawaii requires all persons seeking employment with the government of the State shall be citizens, nationals, or permanent resident aliens of the United States, or eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment in the United States.
  • Six months of work experience which demonstrated knowledge of arithmetic and spelling, and the ability to follow oral and written directions, write simply and directly, and observe differences in words and numbers quickly and accurately.
  • Two years of work involved in posting to accounting records and other systematizing of fiscal information; knowledge of standard accounting classification and terminology pertinent to accounts maintenance operations, and office practices and procedures relating to the processing and recording of transactions and accounting information.
  • Some positions require supervisory aptitude: demonstrated through assignments with supervisory responsibilities or training with supervisory skills.
  • A valid driver's license may be required at the time of appointment.
  • Pre-employment fingerprint-based criminal history record check required; cost borne by applicant.

Job description

This recruitment is being conducted under the Operation Hire Hawaii (OH-HI) project, a targeted outreach initiative featuring an expedited hiring process, fast-tracking qualified applicants into job opportunities throughout Hawai’i.

Applications received for this recruitment will be reviewed for Legal Authorization to work in the US. All applicants who pass the Legal Authorization review will be referred to the hiring department for consideration and an initial review of the application.

To qualify, you must meet all of the following requirements:

Specialized Experience: Two years of work involved in posting to accounting records and other systematizing of fiscal information; i.e., computing, classifying and recording numerical data to keep sets of financial accounting records complete and to derive reports therefrom. Such experience must have demonstrated knowledge of standard accounting classification and terminology pertinent to accounts maintenance operations, and office practices and procedures relating to the processing and recording of transactions and accounting information. This work must have involved reconciling accounts (i.e., checking for errors, balancing, and going back to original source document for verification); and the preparation of balance sheets and income statements or financial and/or accounting reports.

Supervisory Aptitude: Some positions require that applicants possess supervisory aptitude. Supervisory aptitude is the demonstration of aptitude or potential for the performance of supervisory duties through successful completion of regular or special assignments which involve some supervisory responsibilities or aspects; by serving as a group or team leader, or in similar work in which opportunities for demonstrating supervisory capabilities exist; by completion of training courses in supervision accompanied by application of supervisory skills in work assignments or by favorable appraisals by a supervisor indicating the possession of supervisory potential.

Driver's License: Some positions require possession of a valid driver's license at the time of appointment.

Federal Criminal History Records Check: In accordance with Federal regulations, persons who are being considered for employment in positions which require unescorted access to secured areas at the airport, must undergo a pre-employment fingerprint-based criminal history record check. In order to be granted the Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) clearance, prospective employees must not have been convicted, or found \"not guilty by reason of insanity\", of a disqualifying criminal offense within 10 years from the date of the application. Upon recommendation for hire, prospective employees will be required to successfully undergo the fingerprint-based criminal history record check and be found free of disqualifying convictions during the preceding ten years. The cost for the records check will be the applicant's responsibility.
