Hoff-Barthelson Music School in Scarsdale, NY seeks an experienced accompanist to work with students of all ages during private lessons, workshops, rehearsals, and performances.

Qualifications

• Master of Music or related experience required; candidates with Bachelor of Music and substantial professional experience will be considered.
• At least five years of professional accompanying experience.
• Experience in community arts education preferred.
• Excellent accompanying, collaborative, and sight-reading skills.
• Ability to learn new repertoire quickly and accurately.
• Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
• Dependable, detail-oriented, and able to meet deadlines.

Position Description

The accompanist works with students of all ages and ability levels during private lessons, workshops, rehearsals, and performances. Repertoire ranges from Suzuki Strings Book 1 – primarily violin and cello – to concert-level works performed by advanced students.

The accompanist must be comfortable performing classical music, musical theater, and fully composed jazz repertoire. Jazz improvisation and realizing charts are not required. This position reports to the Dean.

Compensation and Benefits

• $40+ per hour.

Location and Hours

Work takes place at Hoff-Barthelson Music School, 25 School Lane, Scarsdale, New York, or at off-site locations arranged by the School.

HBMS offers instruction Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. and Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Assignments are scheduled within these hours.
