Job summary

Columbia Helicopters is seeking an Accessory Maintenance Technician in Oregon. You will overhaul, repair, and test turbine engine accessories, read maintenance manuals, and inspect components for wear.

You will replace damaged parts, perform tests, and document findings in records, while maintaining a safe, organized shop. Lean methods training and A&P exposure are valued as you support mission-ready operations.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; further education or technical training preferred.
  • 3+ years’ mechanical experience and aptitude for acquiring new skills.
  • A&P license preferred (Airframe license ≈ 1 year experience; Powerplant license ≈ 1 year; A&P ≈ 2 years).
  • Experience in turbine engine overhaul or engine component overhaul preferred.
  • Training and experience utilizing Lean methods in a production environment.
  • Ability to read and follow technical data and use precision measuring equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret maintenance manuals or technical data to determine feasible methods for tasks.
  • Inspect engine components for damage and wear using visual checks and tools; follow standard work procedures.
  • Replace or repair damaged accessory parts using hand and pneumatic tools; assemble components with proper equipment.
  • Perform tests to confirm engine component serviceability with specialized tools.
  • Document inspection findings and actions in maintenance records per standards.
  • Maintain clean, organized work areas and proper tool/FOD control.
  • Perform work safely using relevant technical data.
  • Support Lean and continuous improvement to reduce waste, improve quality and safety.

The Accessory Maintenance Technician performs overhaul, repair, and testing of turbine engine accessories.

WHAT YOU WILL DO
  • Read and interprets maintenance manuals, or other technical data to determine the feasibility and method to perform the assigned tasks.
  • Cleans and inspects engine components and component parts for damage and wear using visual examination and special tooling and equipment. Follows shop standard work procedures for clean up and equipment preventive maintenance.
  • Replaces or repairs damaged or worn accessory component parts using general hand tools, special tools, pneumatic tools and precision measuring equipment. Assembles components with same tools and equipment.
  • Utilizing special tools and/or equipment performs tests and/or checks as required to confirm engine component serviceability.
  • Properly documents all inspection findings and work performed/corrective action in the appropriate maintenance records to meet established standards.
  • Maintains work areas and tools in a clean and organized manner, practices proper tool and FOD control.
  • Performs work safely and utilizes the appropriate technical data for the assigned task.
  • Monitors and supports continuous improvement activities by utilizing Lean and continuous improvement tools striving to identify and eliminate waste in all its forms in an effort to improve quality and safety, decrease lead time and reduce cost.
WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; further education or technical training is preferred
  • Requires 3+ years’ mechanical experience and a strong aptitude for acquiring new mechanical skills and knowledge
  • Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) license preferred (Airframe license is equivalent to 1 year experience; Powerplant license is equivalent to 1 year experience; A&P license is equivalent to 2 years’ experience)
  • Experience in turbine engine overhaul or engine component overhaul preferred
  • Documented military or commercial turbine engine maintenance and/or component maintenance training preferred
  • Training and experience utilizing Lean methods in a production environment
  • Ability to locate, read and follow the technical data appropriate for the assigned task
  • Ability to use precision measuring equipment and hand tools appropriate to the assigned tasks
  • Ability to work overtime and/or weekends as assigned dependent on production needs
  • Ability to work in a shop environment or work outdoors locally or in remote locations as needed for customer support
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
