West Star Aviation is seeking an Accessories Technician in Grand Junction, CO to inspect, troubleshoot, repair and overhaul accessory components, including landing gear and engine-related parts, in a safe environment. You’ll sign off documentation for Return to Service and work with FAA guidelines.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent; an A&P license or aviation degree is ideal. A valid driver’s license or passport is a plus, with overtime/weekend work as needed.

What you can expect as an Accessories Technician at West Star:

This position includes varying amounts of inspection, troubleshooting, adjustments, repairing and performing overhauls and testing accessory components. This will also include general tasks related to the maintenance and repair of landing gear, systems and components on a variety of engines, using personal protection equipment according to manufacturer’s specifications, in a safe and clean work environment. Duties also include preparing and signing off on various documents for “Return to Service” and recordkeeping purposes. Will be required to work with products and materials associated with component maintenance.


You Will Be ESSENTIAL To Many FUNCTIONS Including


  • Perform overhauls or repairs on a wide variety of different airframe components.

  • Perform overhauls or repairs on Challenger, Hawker, Learjet, King Air Landing Gear.

  • Troubleshoot and assist in repairing / inspecting different airframe components.

  • Utilize and consistently learn new procedures on approved overhaul / repairs.

  • Work as a team player and assist co-workers as needed.

  • Maintenance and repair of shop facility, equipment and tooling when required.

  • Effectively and clearly communicate (i.e., speak, write, read) in English

  • Any other job-related duties as assigned by supervisor or management


Your Education

What you’ll need to bring with you:

A High school diploma or equivalent is required.


An Airframe and Powerplant license or associate's degree in aviation is ideal.


Previous Experience As a Mechanic Is Required

A valid driver’s license approved for airline travel and/or a valid passport is ideal, but not mandatory.

Your Sense Of Responsibility

Attend work every day as scheduled to include overtime and weekend assignments.


Notify supervisor in advance of shift starting if unable to work.


Must have reliable transportation to get to work each and every day.


Perform all work in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration guidelines.


Follow all company and safety rules during performance of duties.


Maintain customer-oriented work habits.

Physical Requirements

Lifts 50 lbs.


Routine walking, bending and squatting or sitting.


Routine or repetitive physical motion with arms and hands.


Climb ladders and stairs, work in small, restricted areas

Supervision

Work under supervision of assigned Team Leader and Director of Maintenance.


May be directed to supervise other technicians in some capacity.


Working Conditions

Work is performed in a hangar environment subject to extreme temperature variations from very cold to very hot.


Work outside during aircraft runs can occur.


Varied positions in and around the aircraft.


Equipment Used

Personal hand tools supplied by the mechanic.


Pneumatic, hydraulic and electrical equipment.


Jacks, stands, lifts and other support devices.


Tugs, power carts and other engine powered equipment.


Compensation & Benefit Information

The following information is disclosed according to state specific requirements. If the position applied to is not in a state with these requirements, the following information may not apply. The hourly rate for this position generally ranges between $20 - $27. Actual hourly rate will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience and performance. Additional compensation in the form of a shift differential will be provided if the employee is assigned to an alternate shift. The range listed is just one component of the total compensation package. Other forms of compensation include a semi-annual discretionary bonus, 401(k) company match and employer contribution to a Health Savings Account (HSA).
