Job summary

Abbott in Marshfield, WI is seeking an Accessioning Technician I to support rare disease genetic testing and hereditary cancer testing in our Cancer Diagnostics division. You will ensure accurate and timely entry of patient information into databases and assist accessioning staff with client orders.

Schedule is Monday–Friday, 11:00am–4:00pm with rotating Saturdays. The role requires high school diploma, MS Office proficiency, and the ability to work with confidential information while

  • Demonstrate strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Work designated schedule with the ability to stand for most of the day.

Position Overview

The Accessioning Technician I will be responsible for the accurate and timely entry of various types of patient information into databases. This includes assisting accessioning staff with entry of client orders for testing (accessioning) and entry of other pertinent information in databases, as requested.

Schedule : Monday-Friday, 11 :00am-4 :00pm, rotating Saturdays

Essential Duties

Include, but are not limited to, the following :

  • Follow all standard operating procedures specific to assigned department/laboratory, which may include, but is not limited to, the following :
  • Receive and open packages of patient specimens for accessioning;
  • Accession samples into clinical database;
  • Enter/scan all relevant patient/institutional data into database(s) and ensure accuracy.

Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
  • Demonstrated ability to learn new skills and techniques.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs and PC workstation.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform the essential duties of the position with or without accommodation.
  • Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Technical school or college coursework.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
