Job summary

Medical Diagnostic Laboratories (MDL), a Genesis Biotechnology Group member, is seeking a Clinical Lab Accessioner to support specimen accessioning and paperwork handling in a CLIA-certified lab.

You will unpack deliveries, verify information, print labels, manage paperwork, and help ensure accurate specimen routing and QC in a fast-paced, safety-conscious environment. No degree required; 3-month training provided; the role emphasizes accuracy, privacy, and collaboration with the lab team.

Responsibilities

• Unpack FedEx Specimen deliveries
• Count and compare courier & field service specimens to route sheets
• Identify information on test requisition forms
• Match requisition info with collection vial details for accuracy
• Identify missing or discrepant information and ensure proper documentation
• Gather paperwork with specimens (requisitions, checks, insurance copies)
• Use MDL test codes and panels correctly
• Accession multiple specimen types (blood, urine, swabs, CSF, synovial fluid, ticks, biopsies)
• Photograph outside specimen vials/containers for QC
• Print labels and requisitions to match specimens
• Use scanning systems properly
• Sort and prepare paperwork for scanning
• Sort samples in ascending order and set up per XG sheet
• Locate samples requested by QA/SRC
• Complete QC paperwork and archive files
• Demonstrate use of Sample Scan 96
• Print labels for plates and prepare for scanning
• Take temperatures in the clinical lab

Clinical Lab Accessioner

Job Summary

Medical Diagnostic Laboratories (MDL), a member of Genesis Biotechnology Group, is a CLIA certified clinical laboratory with multiple state licensing, specializing in state of the art, automated DNA based molecular analysis of a variety of chronic and infectious illnesses.

MDL specializes and performs Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) with a larger menu of testing available in the field of infectious disease. Our main theme of research is in the field of Gynecology, Infectious Diseases, Infectious Arthritis, Tick-borne Diseases, Mycology, and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS).

Essential Functions

• Unpack FedEx Specimen deliveries
• Properly count/compare the courier & field service technician specimens to route sheets
• Correctly identify all necessary information on a test requisition form
• Match information on the test requisition with information on the collection vial for accuracy
• Identify correct documentation and procedures for missing or discrepant informationDemonstrate proper use of dMDL
• Properly collate all paperwork received with specimen including requisition, checks, credit card forms, insurance card copies and prescriptions
• Demonstrate proper use of MDL test codes and panels
• Properly accession multiple types of specimen including blood, urine, swabs, CSF, synovial fluid, ticks, biopsies, etc.
• Properly take pictures of outside specimen vial/container for QC purposes
• Properly print labels and number of requisitions with the corresponding specimens
• Demonstrate proper use of scanning systems
• Properly sort and prepare all paperwork for scanning
• Properly sort samples in ascending order, as well as set up samples according to an XG sheet
• Properly locate a sample requested by the clinical lab, quality control, or the SRC department
• Complete any paperwork that should come down from QC/SRC
• Archive and file all paperwork in order to distribute to the appropriate bins/boxes
• Demonstrate proper use of a Sample Scan 96
• Properly print labels for plates, preparing them to be scanned
• Properly take temperatures of the clinical lab

Additional Responsibilities

• Assist Lab Manager and/or shift coordinator in all daily activities or additional duties as delegated.
• Performs other similar or related duties as required or assigned.
• Assures activities are conducted in a safe manner and materials are handled according to safety guidelines.
• Assures customer privacy is maintained at all times.
• Participates as a team member and is accountable for own work responsibilities.
• Assures information is delivered in a manner that is supportive, timely and understandable.
