Job summary

City of Chicago’s Mayor's Office for People with Disabilities seeks a Training Officer to design and deliver disability-related training for internal staff, other City departments, and external partners. Under supervision, you will develop materials, lead the Training Unit, coordinate projects, and ensure programs meet accessibility standards.

Applicants should have strong presentation skills and experience with learning management systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree plus three years of training or teaching experience, or equivalent substitutions.
• Seven years of training or teaching experience as an alternative.
• Associate's degree plus five years of training or teaching experience as an alternative.
• Master's degree or higher plus two years of training or teaching experience as an alternative.

Responsibilities

• Develops and presents disability-related training materials on topics such as Disability and Access, Planning Accessible Events, and Digital Accessibility.
• Prepares program materials including training outlines, instructional modules, resource guides, and visual aids for use in training programs.
• Leads and coordinates the Training Unit, including assigning projects.
• Conducts research on accessible and affordable housing to incorporate subject matter into training materials.
• Identifies and coordinates professional development opportunities for MOPD staff.
• Develops and implements training evaluation tools and incorporates feedback for continuous improvement.
• Tracks and reports on the number of training participants.
• Answers technical assistance questions pertaining to program and physical access as it applies to Title II of the ADA.
