Job summary

Dayton Children’s is seeking an Patient Access Representative to support the Pre-Registration and Prior Authorization workflows. This role requires coordinating appointment scheduling, patient registration, and insurance verification while ensuring accurate data entry and respectful patient interactions.

Under supervision of the Patient Access Manager, you will also assist with telephone coverage, PHI filing, and payment collection to help maintain the hospital’s financial solvency and patient

Qualifications

  • Customer service experience in front desk or patient-facing roles.
  • Healthcare experience is preferred.
  • Willingness to learn and follow hospital policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule appointments for patients.
  • Register patients for services and visits.
  • Transcribe orders accurately.
  • Verify insurance coverage and benefits.
  • Answer and route phone inquiries.
  • Data entry for patient records and visits.
  • File and protect PHI following privacy rules.
  • Assist with patient referrals.
  • Collect payments and explain billing information.

Patient Access Representatives provide customer-service coverage and assume responsibility for successful financial outcomes of all patient services. Under the general supervision of the Patient Access Manager, this position performs imperative duties, which may include, but not limited to the following:

  • appointment scheduling
  • registration
  • transcribing orders
  • insurance verification
  • telephone coverage
  • data entry
  • filing protected health information (PHI)
  • patient referrals
  • payment collection

While maintaining patient relations, customer satisfaction, and Dayton Children’s Hospital financial solvency.

Shift: Monday-Friday 8am-4:30pm

Education
  • High school diploma or GED required
