Job summary

The Colorado Community College System (CCCS) Office seeks an Access Services Librarian to develop and maintain all aspects of the CCCS Online Library’s digital infrastructure, including website, authentication, discovery, and databases. You will coordinate with faculty, learning designers, and academic technology to embed library resources into course shells.

Qualifications

  • Master of Library Science or Master of Library and Information Science from an accredited college or university.
  • Two years’ experience working in an online library, including e-collections development, authentication software management, library discovery systems, and using an ILS system.

  • Develop, administer, maintain, and enhance core library digital systems including website, discovery layer, authentication tools, Springshare products, web services, and related workflows.
  • Manage patron authentication software and access systems, coordinating with CCCS libraries, vendors, and the CCCS IT Department.
  • Maintain library/vendor relationships, communicating about resource issues, licensing, usage statistics, and platform changes.
  • Manage accessibility issues related to library resources, software, digital platforms, and online services.
  • Coordinate with faculty and learning design teams to embed library resources into course shells and instructional environments.
  • Liaise between library vendors, collection development groups, colleges, and stakeholders to support electronic resource management.
  • Organize materials budget and expenditures, coordinating payments and resolving billing issues.

Job Summary:

In this role you will work internally at the Colorado Community College System (CCCS) Office and across CCCS to develop and maintain all aspects of the CCCS Online Library’s digital infrastructure, including library website, authentication system, discovery service, and database access. You will act as the point person for library vendor relations, troubleshooting issues, and maintain all statistics and reports. The Access Services Librarian will co-chair the CCCS collection development committee and will work with faculty, instructors, learning designers and the academic course design teams, and Academic Technology to embed and incorporate library resources into course shells.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Develop, administer, maintain, and enhance core library digital systems, including the library website, discovery layer, authentication tools, Springshare products, web services, digital platforms, and related workflows that support research, teaching, learning, curriculum, and student academic success.
  • Manage patron authentication software and access systems, serving as the primary contact for monitoring, troubleshooting, and resolving access issues related to CCCS Online Library electronic resources in collaboration with CCCS libraries, vendors, and the CCCS IT Department.
  • Maintain library/vendor relationships on behalf of CCCS Central Library and participating college libraries, including communicating about resource issues, technical questions, licensing, usage statistics, subscription/account information, and platform changes.
  • Manage accessibility issues related to library resources, software, digital platforms, and online services.
  • Coordinate with faculty, instructors, Academic Technology, and learning design staff to embed and incorporate library resources into course shells and other instructional environments.
  • Liaise between library vendors, CCCS collection development groups, college libraries, faculty, departments, and other stakeholders to support electronic resource management and collection development needs.
  • Organize materials budget and expenditures, including allocations for various titles and formats of materials, coordinates payments for collection materials, and resolves billing issues with vendors and colleges.
Minimum Qualifications, Substitutions, Conditions Of Employment & Appeal Rights
  • Master of Library Science or Master of Library and Information Science from an accredited college or university.
  • Two years’ experience working in an online library, to include the following:
    • Experience in e-collections development.
    • Experience managing authentication software.
    • Experience managing library discovery systems.
    • Experience working with one or more ILS system.

Competencies/KSAs
  • Practiced in managing an ILS System.
  • Community college or consortium experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with collection assessment methodologies.
  • Proficiency in online library services and resources.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of contemporary theories, models, and best practices related to access services, library collections, Integrated Library Systems, and discovery services
  • Strong communication, collaboration, problem-solving skills, ability to be proactive and self-starting, and in possession of a patron-centered approach to librarianship.
  • Ability to build, lead, and to be an effective member of various library teams and work groups.
  • Ability to gather, organize, and analyze data from multiple sources and use it to inform decisions.
  • Knowledge of web and user-centered design, assessment methodologies, and usability studies.
  • Knowledge of standards and best practices for web accessibility, UDL, and ADA compliance.
  • Strong understanding of ACRL’s Standards, Guidelines, and Frameworks, including Framework for Information Literacy for Higher Education, A Framework for Access Services Librarianship: Presented by the Association of College and Research Libraries’ Access Services Interest Group, and AI Competencies for Academic Library Workers.
  • Ability to learn and deploy innovative technologies associated with online library services.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, including public speaking.
Work Location/Travel Expectations:
  • CCCS offices at 9101 E Lowry Blvd., Denver, CO 80230.
  • Minimal travel is expected for this position.
  • Alternative work arrangements, including flexible schedules and hybrid-remote work may be available. All work must be completed in the state of Colorado.
