Job summary

The Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) Department of Surgery seeks a Trauma and Acute Care Surgeon at the Assistant Professor level to join the Division of Acute Care Surgery. You will build a broad clinical practice in trauma, emergency general surgery, and surgical critical care while pursuing an academic career in education, research, or quality improvement.

Qualifications

• Board-certified or board-eligible in General Surgery and Surgical Critical Care.
• Eligible for medical licensure in South Carolina.
• Interest in pursuing a career in academic surgery and scholarly activities.
• Experience or clear interest in education, research, or quality improvement.

Responsibilities

• Provide operative and nonoperative care on trauma and emergency general surgery services, including in-house trauma call.
• Provide ICU coverage for critically ill surgical and trauma patients.
• Teach and mentor medical students, residents, and fellows in surgery.
• Contribute to the division's academic, quality, and performance-improvement missions.
