Job description

The Division of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition at University Hospitals Rainbow Babies & Children's Hospital—ranked among the nation’s best children’s hospitals by U.S. News & World Report in 11 specialties for 2025–26, including Pediatric Gastroenterology & GI Surgery—is seeking a Board Certified or Board Eligible Pediatric Gastroenterologist specializing in advanced endoscopy and motility disorders to join this collegial and collaborative team in Cleveland, Ohio.

This is an outstanding opportunity to become part of a nationally recognized program consistently ranked among the top 50 pediatric GI programs in the country over the past decade. We welcome candidates with broad clinical interests and expertise, including hepatology, nutrition, and gastrointestinal motility, to further clinical and academic growth.

As part of our strategic expansion, we are seeking experienced physicians with research interests and early‑career clinicians alike—those interested in advancing a career as a Clinician‑Educator and/or Clinician‑Scientist. Faculty seeking continuation of research interests will find strong institutional support, including resources for continued scholarly activity and a collaborative academic environment. Junior and mid‑career faculty will benefit from personalized mentorship from the Division Chief and senior faculty, with clear pathways for advancement, learning and professional fulfillment.

Division Highlights
  • Home to five full‑time board‑certified pediatric gastroenterologists committed to delivering state‑of‑the‑art care through robust multidisciplinary programs including aerodigestive disorders, cystic fibrosis, inflammatory bowel disease, myelomeningocele, and central venous line (CVL) management.
  • Recognized for procedural innovation, being one of the first pediatric programs in the U.S. to offer transnasal endoscopy (TNE).
  • Active ACGME‑accredited fellowship program committed to education and training the next generation of pediatric gastroenterologists.
  • This comprehensive Division includes three nurse practitioners, six registered nurses, a dietitian, social worker, and psychologist assigned to clinical care.
  • The Pediatric Endoscopy Unit is fully staffed with experienced nurses, technicians and schedulers, and is equipped for sedation‑free TNE (esophagoscopy and EGD), high‑resolution esophageal, antroduodenal, colonic, and anorectal manometry, impedance planimetry (EndoFLIP system), and conventional endoscopic procedures.
  • Endoscopies (non‑TNE) are performed both at the main hospital and at a community‑based UH Rainbow endoscopy unit, with monitored anesthesia care.
Primary Responsibilities
  • Provide inpatient and outpatient care.
  • Teach and mentor medical students, residents and fellows.
  • Engage in clinical research, quality improvement, and academic pursuits aligned with and depending upon your interests.
  • Embrace UH Rainbow Babies & Children’s scholarly and educational mission: To Heal, To Teach, To Discover.
  • Academic appointment with Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine at the level of Assistant, Associate or Professor will be determined by the candidate’s credentials and experience as reviewed by the Committee on Appointments, Promotion, and Tenure.
