Job summary

Durham VA Medical Center in Durham, NC is seeking a board-eligible otolaryngologist to join the Section of Otolaryngology. The successful candidate will provide on-call clinical care in hospital-based ambulatory and inpatient settings, collaborate with colleagues, and participate in education and teaching of medical students and residents.

Applicants must hold MD/DO degree, be eligible for licensure in the United States, and have a faculty appointment at a local academic institution.

Qualifications

• United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may be appointed when qualified citizens cannot be recruited, per VA policy.
• MD or DO degree from a school approved by VA for the year completed.
• Current full and unrestricted license to practice medicine in a US state/DC.
• Completion of residency in an ACGME/AOA approved core specialty leading to board eligibility.
• For faculty status, board certification may be required; residency training programs may be considered.
• Proficiency in spoken and written English.
• Preferred: Board-eligible otolaryngologist; faculty appointment at a local academic institution.

Responsibilities

• The primary responsibility is on-call clinical otolaryngology in hospital-based ambulatory and inpatient settings.
• Opportunities to teach medical students, residents and fellows while performing on-call duties in the operating room.
• Work schedule described as intermittent; licensure and malpractice protections provided.
