The Department of Ophthalmology at Dell Medical School, University of Texas at Austin, seeks a Clinical Assistant Professor to supervise residents in the clinic, guide patient care decisions, and contribute to education within an academic medical center.

The successful candidate will oversee resident evaluations, support clinical decision-making, and collaborate with faculty while maintaining high standards of patient care and documentation.

Qualifications

• MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school.
• Completed ophthalmology residency.
• Board certified or eligible in Ophthalmology.
• Eligible for, or currently holding, an unrestricted medical license in the state of practice.
• Eligible for medical staff privileges at affiliated clinical sites.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and teaching skills.

Responsabilités

• Provide attending oversight for patient care delivered by residents in the resident clinic.
• Review resident evaluations, diagnoses, treatment plans, and clinical documentation to ensure safe, high-quality patient care.
• Serve as a clinical resource and mentor to residents, providing real-time guidance, teaching, and feedback during patient encounters.
• Support resident development through observation, coaching, and assessment of clinical performance.
• Collaborate with faculty, clinical staff, and referring providers to support coordinated patient care and resident training.
• Maintain timely and accurate documentation and complete required attending attestations and reviews.
• Participate in departmental meetings, quality improvement initiatives, and other activities related to resident education and clinic operations.
