Position Location

This position will be located onsite in Gdsden, Alabama.

Job Overview

Responsible for providing integrated academic instruction to students that meets academic competencies listed in the PRH. Provide students with basic direction, in compliance with government and management directives.

Responsibilities
Essential Job Duties:
  • Provide students with basic direction, instruction and assistance in designated areas of instruction.
  • Motivate and counsel students in areas of behavior, career and academic training, or study habits.
  • Coordinate with team as necessary to resolve issues affecting student training.
  • Develop and prepare lessons. Recommend curricula changes and supplemental materials.
  • Participate in student performance evaluations. Prepare required documentation and evaluations.
  • Administer and correct tests. Maintain progress and attendance reports.
  • Control use of supplies, materials, and equipment. Recommend purchases.
  • Assist in developing community linkages and partnerships.
  • Access and train students to use computers and applicable software.
  • Teach, model, and evaluate student employability skills.
  • Develop and conduct enrichment program as assigned.
  • Transport students for training purposes as needed.
  • Coordinate schedule changes as students complete out of the required programs.
  • Maintain accountability of students and property. Adhere to standard safety practices.
  • Cultivate and maintain a Center climate which is free of harassment, intimidation, and disrespect in order to provide a safe place for staff and students in which to work and learn.
  • Promote student attainment of career success standards through modeling appropriate skills, mentoring students, monitoring skill acquisition and intervening when inappropriate behavior is observed.
  • Work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Completing all mandated training requirements per government and management directives.
  • Timely and cost-effective performance of duties.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and present information to students, management and line staff, corporate and DOL personnel and public groups.
  • Strong analytical skills to interpret and manage data.
  • Ability to develop rapport and positive working relationships with all departments
  • Timely completion and accuracy of all departmental work.
  • Dealing with a variety of people in a professional, courteous manner in diversified situations.
  • Adherence to established company safety policies and ability to work in a safe manner, using any required personal protective equipment (PPE) as may be required.
  • Compliance with company standard operating procedures and personnel policies and procedures.
Job Requirements
Mandatory:
  • Bachelor's degree in related field
  • One (1) year related experience
  • State of Alabama teaching certificate.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook at an intermediate level.
  • Successfully pass background check and drug test required on the contract.
  • Current, valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record.
Preferred:
  • Master’s degree.
Working Conditions

Work is typically performed in an office setting and at various locations on Center. Employee must regularly walk, climb stairs and visually observe Center environment. Employee must be able to run and respond to physical altercations or other emergencies rapidly for the safety of students, Center staff and property. Employee must be able to safely operate a passenger vehicle and supervise students simultaneously.

Physical Requirements

This position requires the employee to be able to frequently required to sit, stand, walk and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. Work somewhat close to other people, such as when sharing office space. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
