Job summary

Riverside Health Medical Group seeks a Full-Time Academic Hospitalist to join Riverside Regional Medical Center in Newport News, Virginia. You will lead teaching rounds, supervise residents and medical students, and provide inpatient care on acute units with a focus on patient safety and education.

You will participate in the Clinical Competency Committee and contribute to curriculum development, resident evaluations, and quality improvement initiatives within an interprofessional team.

Qualifications

• Education: Doctoral Degree MD/DO, Medicine or Osteopathic Medicine (Required)
• Experience: Successful completion of residency or demonstrated experience in medical specialty (Required)
• Licenses and Certifications: Physician License (MD) - Virginia Board of Medicine Upon Hire (Required); Valid DEA pf-controlled substances registration (Required)

Responsibilities

• Serve as a role model for future generations of physicians by demonstrating compassion, commitment to excellence in teaching and patient care, professionalism, and a dedication to lifelong learning.
• Educate residents to become practice-ready, while providing appropriate levels of supervision to promote patient safety.
• Participate in recruitment, interviewing and selecting potential residency candidates for the Internal Medicine Residency Program.
• Advance residents' knowledge and practice with a scholarly approach to evidence-based patient care through case studies and quality improvement.
• Create an effective learning environment conducive to educating residents in each of the ACGME Competency domains by fulfilling supervisory and teaching responsibilities through timely completion of resident evaluations and real-time feedback.
