Job summary

The University of Kansas Medical Center is seeking a full-time faculty Hematopathologist to join the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine. This position involves engaging in diagnostic sign-out, training medical students and residents, and leading clinical and translational research efforts.

Job description

Overview

Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the University of Kansas Medical Center seeks an academically oriented full-time faculty Hematopathologist to join our growing department. The department performs over 7 million tests and 65,000 surgical pathology cases annually, with a large case variety. Our Hematopathology service supports a robust Bone Marrow Transplant and Hematology service with over 4,400 bone marrow and 8,000 flow cytometry cases per year, and provides rich opportunities for clinical and translational research. Tenure track appointments are full‑time with a seven‑year probationary period, and promotion is based on achievements in teaching, research/scholarship, and service.

Responsibilities
  • Participate in diagnostic sign-out of 1 or 2 subspecialty areas.
  • Contribute to medical student, resident, and fellow training.
  • Provide specialized clinical, educational, and/or research services within area of expertise using current, evidence‑based practices and techniques.
  • Develop research projects reflective of interests.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary clinical teams, research groups, academic programs, and institutional partners to support patient care, program development, innovation, and scholarly activity.
Qualifications
  • Education: M.D., M.D./Ph.D., or D.O. (required).
  • Board certified/eligible in Anatomic/Clinical Pathology.
  • Eligible for unrestricted licensure for the practice of medicine in Kansas.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Fellowship training in Hematopathology.
  • Additional training or experience in Molecular Pathology.
