Job summary

Openwork is seeking an Academic Coach / Tutor for a Spring, Texas site to support youth ages 14–25 in foster care or aging out. The role is part-time, after-school, primarily in-person with some virtual support.

You will tutor in math, science, language arts, and other core subjects, provide guidance on study habits and time management, and track progress. A bachelor's degree is preferred and experience mentoring or tutoring youth is desired.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred; candidates with some college coursework will be considered.
• Experience tutoring, mentoring, coaching, or working with youth ages 14+.
• Strong knowledge of core academic subjects.
• Ability to assist with higher-level math, science, and language arts.
• Strong communication, organization, patience, and interpersonal skills.
• Availability Monday–Thursday during after-school hours.
• Reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license.
• Access to a personal computer.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Teams.
• Ability to maintain accurate documentation.
• Flexibility to work with changing student schedules and needs.

Academic Coach / Tutor – Part-Time

Openwork is partnering with a mission-driven youth organization to hire an Academic Coach / Tutor for a site in Spring, TX 77373. This position supports youth and young adults ages 14–25 who are currently in foster care or have aged out of the foster care system.

We’re looking for someone with tutoring, mentoring, or youth-support experience who is passionate about helping students strengthen their academic skills, confidence, and independence.

Position at a Glance

Location: Spring, TX 77373

Pay: $25.00 per hour

Schedule: Part-Time | Monday–Thursday | Approx. 4:00 PM–7:00 PM

Start Times: Vary by site and may begin at 4:00 PM, 5:00 PM, or 5:30 PM

Work Setting: Primarily in-person, with virtual support based on program needs

This opening is specifically focused on supporting students at a site in the Spring, TX 77373 area. Candidates should be comfortable commuting to this location for scheduled after-school tutoring sessions.

Depending on student and program needs, coaching may include individual tutoring, group sessions, and virtual support.

Training & Program Requirements

Academic Coaches receive training to support consistent, high-quality services. Candidates must complete all required onboarding and training requirements, including a proprietary agreement, and participate in scheduled meetings and program activities as needed.
