Job summary

Joliet Junior College is seeking a dedicated Advisor for the Multicultural & Undocumented Resources program. The role focuses on coaching and advocating for underrepresented and English language learner students to improve retention and success across CMAS initiatives.

Travel between campuses and flexible scheduling, including some evenings and weekends, are required as part of building strong student support networks and expanding outreach to community partners.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Two years of experience with diverse populations.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, time management and organizational skills.
  • Experience with educational, social, and cultural concerns of diverse and undocumented students.
  • Knowledge of immigration regulations affecting undocumented students.
  • Strong PC skills and MS Office knowledge.
  • Valid Driver's License required.
  • Ability to collaborate across college and community with cultural competence.

Responsibilities

  • Provide academic coaching, advocacy, and referrals to support services.
  • Develop individualized student success plans for MUR/CMAS participants.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with participants and coordinate follow-ups.
  • Assist with registration, financial aid, NSAS, and orientation for MUR/CMAS students.
  • Represent the college at community events and recruitment programs.
  • Support leadership programs and CMAS events.
  • Maintain databases, track recruitment, and generate reports.
  • Monitor data to inform proactive outreach.
