Job summary

The University of South Carolina Upstate in Spartanburg, SC seeks an Academic Advisor to guide current and prospective students in designing successful academic plans.

Responsibilities include promoting good advisement practices, assessing students' needs and goals, and supporting Interdisciplinary Studies majors under the supervision of the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Student Success. Flexible scheduling may be required.

Qualifications

• Master's degree with a minimum of 1 year experience in higher education academic advising, academic support services, first-year experience programming, career counseling or related field.
• Preferred exceptional leadership skills and excellent computer skills, written, and oral communication skills.
• Experience in student success initiatives, academic support, first year student programming, or counseling in high school or higher education required.

Responsibilities

• Advises current and prospective students and guides them in designing a successful academic plan.
• Promotes good advisement practices and assists with academic support and career exploration.
• Primarily serves Interdisciplinary Studies majors and works under the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Student Success.
