Job Summary

The AC Maintenance Technician is responsible for the maintenance of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems.

Supervisory Responsibilities

• None

Duties/Responsibilities

• Repair and maintain heating, ventilation, and cooling units for residential customers.
• Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components, using test equipment and hand tools to locate the cause of a breakdown.
• Travel to job sites in the service area and work with dispatch to ensure the schedule is maintained and delays are properly communicated to customers.
• Be available to work nights or weekends on a rotating basis to service emergency needs of our customers.
• Maintain the company vehicle in good working order, including refueling as necessary, reporting any mechanical issues, and filling out and submitting monthly vehicle inspection forms. Vehicles should be washed on a regular basis.
• Maintain proper stock of parts, tools, and safety equipment in the vehicle.
• Maintain and submit monthly mileage log forms.
• Understand company pricing and generate appropriate customer invoices at the job site.
• Obtain customer signatures upon completion of the job and gather correct customer information, including email address.
• Document all installed equipment upon arrival: make, model, serial number, type of gas, necessary test measurements, and pictures as needed.
• Diagnose diverse service issues, obtain any replacement parts, calibrate systems to manufacturer’s recommendations, and explain fully to the customer what the issue is and what is needed to resolve it.
• Participate in company‑provided training opportunities on the latest industry technologies.
• Identify and report to the Service Manager potential opportunities for business.
• All other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Required Skills/Abilities

• Ability to work with tablet, laptop, or desktop devices.
• Knowledge and observance of all company policies, procedures, and safety rules.
• Must have a clean driving record.
• Ability to pass a pre‑employment drug test.
• Able to work a flexible schedule, which may include weekends.
• Excellent communication, customer service, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to solve basic math problems.

Education and Experience

• Degree or trades school certification in a related field preferred.
• 3+ years of related experience as an AC Maintenance Technician required in repair, maintenance, troubleshooting, and correcting diverse HVAC service issues.

Physical Requirements

• Prolonged periods of standing, crawling, and climbing.
• Must be able to lift up to 80 pounds at times.
• Carry ladders, work from heights, and work in crawl spaces.
