Job summary

AC Lounge & Kitchen at the AC Hotel by Marriott in Grand Rapids is seeking a part-time team member who thrives in a fast-paced hospitality environment. You will provide guest service, table service, counter service, and support daily operations while upholding QA standards and Marriott guidelines.

Candidates should have some restaurant experience and be available on weekends. The role offers employee meals, parking discounts, and staff discounts at hotel and restaurant outlets.

Responsibilities

• Perform AC Lounge & Kitchen service: counter service, barista, food running and table service.
• Maintain daily setup/breakdown of the AC Lounge & Kitchen with daily checklists.
• Know each menu item and its ingredients.
• Be aware of events in the area and offer guest recommendations.
• Follow QA specs and Marriott standards; use proper service lingo.
• Follow Health Department specs; fill daily temp logs, rotate products FIFO, and record/dispose expired items.
• Strive to exceed guest satisfaction and provide the best service.
• Attend department meetings and communicate with management and team.
• Maintain professional appearance and complete uniform; proper shoes and grooming.
• Respond to guest concerns with urgency and resolve issues.
• Use time efficiently and stay productive during shifts.
• Look for ways to reduce waste and generate revenue through suggestive selling.
• Keep work areas clean; follow recycling procedures.

This is a part-time position requiring weekend availability.

SUMMARY:

Fulfill the daily operations of the AC Lounge & Kitchen include guest service, table service, counter service and side work. Follow the expectations of AHC and Marriott Corporate including following QA standards. Create a teamwork environment in the AC Lounge & Kitchen and produce quality service to each guest.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• AC Lounge & Kitchen service includes counter service, barista, food running & table service
• Maintain daily set up and/or breakdown of the AC Lounge & Kitchen by following daily checklists
• Know each menu item and its ingredients
• Be aware of events in the area. Be able to give suggestions to our guests
• Follow and Maintain QA specs. Use the correct service lingo according to QA standards.
• Follow and Maintain Health Department Specs. Fill out daily temp logs, rotate product first in, first out and record/dispose of expired product on the waste log
• Strives to exceed guest satisfaction and looks for ways to provide the best possible service
• Understands all facets of job responsibilities and displays the skills necessary to complete tasks
• Complete daily cleaning duties and side work tasks, takes pride in their work
• Reports to work on time and correctly follow the department attendance policy
• Participates in department meetings and communicates freely expressing ideas, opinions or views. Communicates with management and other staff members
• Displays a positive courteous and polite attitude, works well with others
• Takes pride in their appearance and reports to work in complete uniform, wearing the proper shoes and socks professionally dressed and neatly groomed
• Displays a sense of urgency and the ability to resolve guest concerns or department issues on their own
• Utilize time well and is productive throughout the entire shift while meeting department standards
• Looks for ways to save money by reducing waste and controlling expenses. Also tries to generate more revenues by offering ideas and suggestive selling to the guest whenever possible
• Keeps work area neat and clean. Can be found picking up trash in public and back of the house areas of the Hotel. Knows where to recycle items for the department and consistently places them in the appropriate bins and recycling stations
• Follow the AHC safety standards of our hotel
• Associate to attend TIPS training and properly card guests who appear under 40 years of age. Be comfortable to pour wine, beer or make a mixed drink when a bartender is not present.
• Answering the telephone & taking orders. Preparing these orders accurately and delivering following QA guidelines.
• Actively taking care of each guest according to Marriott standards and department standards
• Monitoring food waste
• Maintain AC Lounge & Kitchen cleanliness and overall deep cleaning
• Attending Department Meetings
• Communicating with your management or team members
• Follow our hotel green policies
• Following Marriott and Health Department Specs
• Any other additional responsibilities that may be asked by General Manager or Operations Manager
