Job summary

Goodwill of Greater Washington is seeking a dependable Custodian to support a Federal Agency contract at Herndon, VA. The role emphasizes safety, cleanliness of assigned areas, and using cleaning equipment to maintain floors and surfaces.

Responsibilities include following written and verbal instructions, performing routine cleaning tasks, and reporting repairs to supervision. Prior custodial experience and ability to obtain security clearance are preferred but not required.

Qualifications

• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Ability to decipher/comprehend signs indicating danger.
• Skilled in the knowledge of cleaning methods and equipment such as a scrubber and extractor.
• Ability to obtain security clearance to work at assigned work site.

Responsibilities

• Maintains cleanliness in assigned areas of the facility.
• Performs cleaning duties such as dusting lights, furniture, and other horizontal surfaces, dry mopping hard floor surfaces, vacuuming carpets, emptying and cleaning trash containers and ashtrays, spot cleaning walls and windows, and using the high-speed buffer to burnish hard floor surfaces.
• Cleans and maintains assigned equipment.
• This position requires frequent lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of up to 40 pounds. Prolonged walking and standing are required as well as frequent bending, reaching and stooping.

Provides preventive cleaning services for Federal Agency in accordance with departmental policies and procedures. This position is responsible and will be held accountable for behaving in accordance with divisional and organizational RISE values and expectations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Maintains cleanliness in assigned areas of the facility.
