Job summary

ArcBest, through ABF Freight in Baltimore, is hiring for a position involving duties of a checker and driver. Successful candidates will attend an ABF Freight-approved driver training school, which is integral for performing their combined dock/P&D responsibilities.

Job Description

Position involves attending an ABF Freight-approved driver training school. Program graduates will perform the duties of a checker/driver combined dock/P&D employee.

Requirements

• High School Diploma / GED
• CDL-A permit
• Minimum 21 years of age.
• Ability to obtain CDL-A with doubles/triples, tanker and hazardous materials endorsement.
• Safe driving record (from MVR and previous employment).
• Be able to pass DOT pre-employment drug screen and meet DOT medical requirements.
• Shift days and hours required for this position vary by location and may include days, nights, and/or weekends. Being able to work the required hours at this location will be considered a minimum requirement.

• Wages are Teamster Union Scale which are greater than most other carriers! Hourly employees also receive overtime pay after 8 hours/day.

• Work Hours: Schedule may vary depending on Service Center location.
• Travel Requirements: Frequent (75% or more).
• Compensation: This is an hourly position paid weekly, $18.00 until training is complete (effective 7/1/26-$18.25).
