Job summary

Hennepin Autism Center seeks a devoted Behavior Technician to support children with autism in their daily lives. The role involves direct client care, intensive teaching, and natural environment training to help individuals achieve personal goals.

Qualifications include experience with high behaviors, de-escalation skills, strong communication and documentation, and the ability to pass a health department background check. This is a full-time position in Minneapolis with paid time off.

Qualifications

• Experience with residents with high behaviors in hospital/psychiatric settings.
• Ability to de-escalate intense situations and describe de-escalation methods.
• Pass a background check with the Department of Health and Human Services.
• Strong verbal communication and documentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Help individuals live in their own homes, identify and achieve personal goals, and improve quality of life.
• Provide direct client care using intensive teaching and natural environment training.
• Follow the personalized treatment plan protocols.
• Focus on teaching and antecedent strategies for reducing interfering behaviors.
• Collect, record and summarize data on observable client behavior.
• Provide positive input and feedback to team members regarding programs and protocols.
• Advocate for each individual in all areas of life, including medical professionals and community partners.
• Know and follow Permitted, Restricted, and Prohibited procedures; use safe procedures.
• Work effectively within a highly collaborative team.

Qualifications

• Must have experience with high behaviors. This includes a high level of communication, adaptability, and creativity
• Minimum 1 years of experience that includes working with residents with high behaviors, working in a hospital, or psychiatric setting
• Experience de-escalating intense situations and ability to describe different methods of de-escalation
• Ability to perform physical interventions to ensure the safety of the individuals servedStrong verbal communication and documentation skills
• Ability to pass a background check with the Department of Health and Human Services

• Your role includes providing direct client care using a combination of intensive teaching and natural environment training.
• Follow the behavioral skill acquisition and behavior reduction protocols as outlined in the individuals personalized treatment plan
• Focus on teaching and other antecedent strategies for reducing interfering behaviors
• Collect, record and summarize data on observable client behavior
• Provide positive based input, suggestions, and feedback to Company team members regarding the individuals served and their written programs/protocols
• Advocate for each individual served in all areas of their lives
• To include: medical professionals, intercompany teams, therapists, community members etc
• To have full knowledge of Permitted, Restricted, and Prohibited procedures.
• To utilize safe and appropriate procedures to ensure the safety of the individuals we serve
• To work well within a highly collaborative team
• Pay Rate: $ 20- 23
