Job summary

Damar Services, LLC is hiring ABA Therapists to provide direct services to children with Autism in ABA settings, following behavior plans and documenting progress. The role includes crisis intervention, professional collaboration with families, school and medical staff, and adherence to best practices in behavior analysis.

Starting pay is $20.00 per hour with comprehensive training, benefits, and opportunities for certification and advancement within a mission-driven not-for-profit organization

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or equivalent; bachelor’s preferred.
• Flexible and willing to work at any Damar ABA clinic.
• Ability to pass Critical Moments Training (CMT) and CPR.
• Current or soon-to-be RBT certification
• Must be 18+ and have insured driving privileges where applicable
• Background check and pre-employment drug screen required

Responsibilities

• Provide direct ABA services to children with Autism per behavior plan.
• Maintain neat, chronological documentation of goals and behaviors.
• Provide crisis intervention as needed.
• Interact professionally with parents, school staff, medical personnel and others.
• Stay current with treatment technologies, literature, practices, and regulations.
• Ensure compliance with quality improvement, evaluation and reporting requirements.
• Respect clients’ culture, diversity, and rights.

What is ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis)?Behavior analysis focuses on the principles that explain how learning takes place. Positive reinforcement is one such principle. When a behavior is followed by some sort of reward, the behavior is more likely to be repeated. Through decades of research, the field of behavior analysis has developed many techniques for increasing useful behaviors and reducing those that may cause harm or interfere with learning. Applied behavior analysis (ABA) is the use of these techniques and principles to bring about meaningful and positive change in behavior.

What would I be doing?Our ABA Therapists follow ABA therapy techniques in specialized, client based sessions in order to successfully reach goals per the client's behavior plan by performing a variety of duties related to verbal behavior, behavior modification, treatment plan implementation, data collection and intervention in individual treatment of clients.

What are the hours?Monday - Friday (8:00am - 4:00pm)

How much would I make?Starting pay: $20.00 an hour

What you need to be considered:

• High School Diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor degreepreferred
• Must be flexible and willing to work at any of the Damar ABA clinics
• Ability to pass and maintain Critical Moments Training (CMT) Certification
• Ability to pass and maintain CPR Certification
• Current Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification preferred. Must obtain Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification within 60 days of hire as outlined by the BACB and Damar requirements.
• Minimum age of 18 per licensure requirements
• Valid Indiana driver's license and driving record that meets eligibility requirements of Damars insurance carrier (for all positions requiring driving)
• Be clear of any felony convictions, substantiated charges of neglect or other disqualifying criminalconvictions
• Successfully complete a pre-employment drug screen and physical
• Favorably meet and maintain Damar's background screening

Essential Job Functions

The essential functions of this position require the physical ability and mobility needed to perform the job. This includes the ability to stand or sit for prolonged periods; occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist; lift, carry, push, and/or pull up to 50 lbs.; operate office equipment, including a computer keyboard; travel to other locations using private or commercial transportation; and communicate effectively to exchange information.

The position also requires the ability to recognize and respond appropriately to client behaviors, staff instructions, safety concerns, and emergencies in an environment where individuals may display aggressive, self-injurious, sexually maladaptive, elopement, or other unpredictable behaviors.

Regular and acceptable attendance, excluding approved absences and periods of leave, is also an essential function of the position.
