Job summary

Sierra Nevada Corporation (SNC) in Vandalia, OH, is seeking an entry-level A&P Mechanic I to support senior mechanics by performing maintenance, repairs, and inspections of aircraft under supervision. This role focuses on learning and executing routine maintenance tasks in a structured, safety-conscious environment.

You will shadow experienced technicians, document activities, handle routine checks, and develop skills toward FAA certification.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 0-1 years of relevant experience.
• Active, current FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) certification with no prior FAA violations.
• Must pass written, oral and practical assessments.
• Must have reliable transportation to and from work locations.
• Familiarity with technical schematics, diagrams, blueprints, manuals, and publications.
• Must have own tools in good working order.
• Pass and maintain Class 3 Physical requirements, including a hearing test.

As an A&P Mechanic I, you will support senior mechanics by assisting with the maintenance, repair, and inspections of aircraft. • Active, current Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) certification with no prior FAA violations.
• Must pass, written, oral and practical assessments.
• Must have reliable transportation to and from work locations.
• Familiarity with applicable technical schematics, diagrams, blueprints, manuals, and/or publications.
• Must have own tools in good working order.
• Pass and maintain Class 3 Physical requirements, including a hearing test.

Qualifications – We Prefer

• Associate's degree in Aviation Maintenance or related field.
• Familiarity with common aircraft models.
• Basic problem-solving skills.
• FAA repair station and/or Quality Assurance experience.
• Able to travel on a regular basis and/or work different shifts including overtime and weekends.
• Familiarity with Federal Acquisition Regulation/Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (FAR/DFARS).
• Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry, the US Department of Defense, or US Military.

• High level of accuracy and attention to detail in all tasks, including repairs, installations, and maintenance.
• Ability to follow detailed instructions and adhere to safety protocols.
• Strong awareness of safety protocols and ability to adhere to safety guidelines in potentially hazardous environments.
• Ability to identify and mitigate potential safety hazards.
