Summary
The A&P Mechanic Apprentice is a certified A&P Mechanic whose A&P certificate does not meet the currency requirements of FAA 14 CFR Part 65.83. The person in this position will perform the duties of an A&P Mechanic under the direct supervision of another certified A&P Mechanic whose certificate meets currency requirements. The applicant must undergo a performance evaluation after six months working in this role at full‑time status.
Primary Responsibilities
- Familiar with the policies and procedures contained in company manuals and submit changes as appropriate to eliminate conflicts and/or enhance operational effectiveness.
- Perform all tasks while under the direct supervision of a certified A&P Mechanic.
- Comply with 14 CFR (as applicable), manufacturers’ specifications, company policies and procedures, and other FAA-accepted methods when accomplishing maintenance.
- Assist with completion of shift turnover reports in accordance with procedures in this manual.
- Participate in shift meetings and briefings as required.
- Properly execute maintenance work records.
- Maintain the maintenance work area in a clean and orderly condition.
- Adhere to material handling and control procedures specified in this manual and by the equipment manufacturer(s).
- Initiate materials requests.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- A&P certificate required.
- Minimum two years of professional aircraft maintenance work experience preferred.
- Must have basic mechanical skills.
- Must own a basic set of aircraft maintenance tools.
- Must take instruction and guidance well.
- Must be goal oriented, have exceptional attention to detail, and work well in team situations as well as individually.
- Must be able to lift 40 lbs.
- Must be able to perform moderately strenuous physical tasks, including bending, stooping, kneeling, and working overhead for long periods of time.
- Must hold a valid US driver’s license.
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Must have a flexible schedule and be able to work any shift, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
