Job summary

StandardAero is seeking a Quality Inspector, A&P, to focus on airframe inspections ensuring airworthiness during maintenance, repair, and modifications. You will verify FAA compliance and document findings to certify aircraft for return to service.

Minimum 3 years as an Aviation Mechanic performing inspections, with an FAA A&P license and formal aviation training. Requires ability to work in a fast-paced MRO environment and travel as needed.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of experience as an Aviation Mechanic performing inspections.
  • Must have completed formal Aviation training from a Military or Technical school program.
  • Experience in multiple maintenance levels including MRO/overhaul/depot environments.
  • Valid FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) License.
  • Authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Inspects all aircraft types before, during, and after maintenance to ensure airworthiness.
  • Determines serviceability of systems using precision gauges and NDT where certified.
  • Performs preliminary and final inspections and documents results for RTS.
  • Provides guidance to technicians and delegates inspectors as needed.
  • Trains technicians in proper procedures and practices.
  • Ensures paperwork and procedures align with manuals and FAA data.
  • Reviews work orders and signs off for Return to Service.

This Quality Inspector (RTS) will focus on the Airframe side of our operations, ensuring the airworthiness and safety of aircraft structures by performing detailed inspections during maintenance, repair, and modifications. They verify compliance with FAA regulations, technical manuals, and quality standards while documenting findings and certifying aircraft for return to service.

What You’ll Do
  • Inspects all types of aircraft (including engines, electrical instruments, structures, controls, environmental control systems, landing gear, accessories, etc.) before, during, and after maintenance
  • Determines the serviceability of aircraft systems, parts, and components using precision measuring guides, gauges, instruments, measuring devices, magnification, and non-destructive testing (if appropriately certified).
  • Accomplish preliminary, hidden damage, in-process, and final inspection of all articles repaired, maintained, inspected, or altered by the facility.
  • Provides procedural guidance to technicians and delegated inspectors.
  • Trains and assists technicians in proper work procedures and practices.
  • Monitors work in progress to ensure proper paperwork, procedures, techniques, and methods as prescribed by maintenance manuals, overhaul manuals, approved engineering documents, and other FAA approved data are used.
  • Documents inspection results in inspection paperwork and log books.
  • Accomplishes final review of work order documentation prior to final release of articles.
  • Ensures that work performed is accurately reflected on the work order.
  • Researches logbooks, and prepares logbook entries and sign-offs for approval for Return to Service (RTS).
  • Must be up-to-date on scope of required maintenance and inspection for customers and coordinates efforts to ensure a timely turnaround.
Position Requirements
  • Minimum 3 years of experience as an Aviation Mechanic performing inspections aircraft.
  • Must have completed formal Aviation training experience from a Military or Technical school program
  • Experience working in multiple levels of maintenance, or MRO, overhaul depot, or heavy maintenance environment.
  • Valid FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) License.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
Preferred Characteristics
  • Inspection Authorization (IA) Certification
  • Previous experience performing return-to-service inspections on corporate aircraft.
  • Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) certification, experience or training.
  • CAE or OEM training on Challenger, Falcon, Learjet, Embraer, Gulfstream, or Hawker airframes.
  • Minimum of 1 year of verifiable A&P experience with any/all of the aforementioned aircraft.
