Job summary

Metro Aviation, Inc. is seeking an A&P Hangar Based Fixed Wing/Helicopter Aviation Maintenance Technician (PC12/EC135) in Lebanon, Tennessee for the Vanderbilt LifeFlight program.

This full-time role offers a $2,000 sign-on bonus and a $5,000 retention bonus, with comprehensive health, dental, vision, life, and disability benefits. The technician will maintain aircraft to airworthiness standards, coordinate with the Lead AMT, perform inspections and repairs, manage parts and inventory, and

Qualifications

  • FAA Airframe and Powerplant Certificate required.
  • Minimum of three years turbine rotorcraft or airplane experience.
  • Inspection Authorization (IA) and/or FAR 135 experience a plus.
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities required.
  • Proficient knowledge of aircraft mechanical systems and maintenance procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain liaison with the A&P Lead AMT on aircraft status and downtime.
  • Perform inspection, modification, maintenance, and repair of airframe, rotors, propellers, engines and appliances per manuals and regs.
  • Plan maintenance schedule with Lead AMT considering workflow, equipment, parts, and requirements.
  • Communicate with pilots and clinical crew about aircraft condition on arrival.
  • Keep field base in compliance with policy and procedure standards.
  • Take ownership of each aircraft assigned to the base.
  • Prepare material requests and inventory usage reports; receive and ship inventory as directed.
  • Maintain company-owned local Ground Support Equipment (GSE).
  • Ensure aircraft and MAI documents are up-to-date per CFRs and MAI data.
  • Inspect incoming parts and materials as received.
  • Remove shelf-life limited parts before expiration.
  • Request secondary maintenance checks after any work performed.
  • Maintain calibrated tools and tracking logs for the base location.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Objective

The A&P Field-Based Helicopter Aviation Maintenance Technician ensures company aircraft are maintained in a safe and airworthy condition in accordance with the airworthiness standards prescribed by applicable regulations, airworthiness directives, and Metro Aviation, Inc.’s policy and procedure.

Essential Functions
  • Maintain a close liaison with the A&P Lead Aviation Maintenance Technician (AMT) to provide up-to-date and current status of aircraft and forecast downtime
  • Perform aircraft maintenance including inspection, modification, maintenance, and repair of aircraft, airframe, rotors, propellers, engines, and appliances in accordance with the procedures in the MAI General Operations Manual, Approved Aircraft Inspection Program, Manufacturer’s documentation, applicable Federal Aviation Regulations, and other approved data sources
  • Communicate, plan, and coordinate with the Lead AMT the schedule of maintenance for base aircraft, considering such factors as workflow, location of equipment, facilities, tools, parts, supplies, and job requirements
  • Communicate with the pilots and the clinical crew upon arrival at the base regarding the condition of the aircraft
  • Maintain the field base to the standards of company policy and procedure requires
  • Take complete ownership and responsibility of each aircraft assigned to the base
  • Prepare and submit material requests and inventory usage reports as directed. Receive inventory and ship inventory to other locations
  • Maintain company-owned local Ground Support Equipment (GSE)
  • Ensure all necessary aircraft documents and MAI documents are completed and maintained in accordance with applicable 14 CFR Regulations, General Operations Manual, and company policies
  • Perform inspections on all incoming parts and materials immediately upon arrival
  • Ensure parts with a shelf life limit are removed from inventory prior to expiration
  • Request Secondary Maintenance Checks following any maintenance, preventative maintenance, inspections, repairs or alterations
  • Ensure all company-owned and personal-owned calibrated tools are kept up to date on the company-calibrated tool tracking log for their assigned base or location
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSA)
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Possess sound judgment and objectivity in decision‑making
  • Proficient in aircraft maintenance, inspection and repair
  • A thorough knowledge of FARS, the General Operations Manual, Operations Specifications and other pertinent information
  • Extensive knowledge of all aircraft mechanical systems functions and interactions
Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Must possess a valid FAA Airframe and Powerplant Certificate
  • Inspection Authorization and/or FAR 135 experience a plus
  • Must possess a minimum of three (3) years turbine rotorcraft or airplane experience
Physical Demands
  • Walking, standing, pushing, pulling, reaching, bending, kneeling, squatting for extended periods of time
  • Climbing heights on various equipment
  • Lifting up to 50 or more pounds
  • Must have sufficient vision and ability to safely perform the essential functions of the position
  • Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) (High Visibility clothing, Ear protection, safety glasses) when required
Work Environment
  • Indoor/Outdoor shop with potential extreme cold and hot temperatures
  • Exposure to hazardous chemicals is possible
  • Moderate to loud noise level
  • Driving company vehicle, personal vehicle for company use or other equipment
