Job summary

Metro Aviation, Inc. seeks a skilled A&P Field Based Aviation Maintenance Technician (EC145) in Allentown, PA to ensure aircraft are safe and airworthy under applicable regulations and Metro policies.

The role includes coordinating maintenance with the Lead AMT, maintaining logs, and upholding safety culture. Ideal candidates hold an FAA A&P certificate with IA and FAR 135 exposure; minimum 3 years rotorcraft or airplane experience, and willingness to work full time on site.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must possess a valid FAA Airframe and Powerplant Certificate.
  • Inspection Authorization and FAR 135 experience a plus.
  • Minimum of three (3) years turbine rotorcraft or airplane experience.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain liaison with the A&P Lead AMT to provide status of aircraft and forecast downtime.
  • Perform maintenance, inspection, modification, maintenance, and repair per MAI data and regulations.
  • Plan maintenance with Lead AMT considering workflow, equipment location, tools, parts, and job requirements.
  • Communicate with pilots and clinical crew on base about aircraft condition.
  • Maintain field base to company standards and procedures.
  • Record all maintenance activity in aircraft logs or work orders.
  • Take ownership of each aircraft assigned to the base.
  • Prepare material requests and manage inventory shipments to other locations.
  • Maintain company-owned Ground Support Equipment (GSE).
  • Ensure all documents are complete per 14 CFR and MAI policies.
  • Inspect all incoming parts and materials upon arrival.
  • Remove shelf-life expired parts from inventory.
  • Request secondary maintenance checks after work performed.
  • Keep calibrated tools tracked in tool log.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Objective

The A&P Field-Based Helicopter Aviation Maintenance Technician ensures company aircraft are maintained in a safe and airworthy condition in accordance with the airworthiness standards prescribed by applicable regulations, airworthiness directives, and Metro Aviation, Inc.’s policy and procedure.

Essential Functions
  • Maintain a close liaison with the A&P Lead Aviation Maintenance Technician (AMT) to provide up-to-date and current status of aircraft and forecast downtime
  • Perform aircraft maintenance including inspection, modification, maintenance, and repair of aircraft, airframe, rotors, propellers, engines, and appliances in accordance with the procedures in the MAI General Operations Manual, Approved Aircraft Inspection Program, Manufacturer’s documentation, applicable Federal Aviation Regulations, and other approved data sources
  • Communicate, plan, and coordinate with the Lead AMT the schedule of maintenance for base aircraft, considering such factors as workflow, location of equipment, facilities, tools, parts, supplies, and job requirements
  • Communicate with the pilots and the clinical crew upon arrival at the base regarding the condition of the aircraft
  • Maintain the field base to the standards of company policy and procedure requires
  • Ensure all maintenance activity (inclusive of part, panel, cowling or component removal, disconnections of flight controls, lines or tubes, preventive maintenance activity, servicing or de-servicing of components is recorded in the aircraft logbook or company work order
  • Take complete ownership and responsibility of each aircraft assigned to the base
  • Prepare and submit material requests and inventory usage reports as directed. Receive inventory and ship inventory to other locations
  • Maintain company-owned local Ground Support Equipment (GSE)
  • Ensure all necessary aircraft documents and MAI documents are completed and maintained in accordance with applicable 14 CFR Regulations, General Operations Manual, and company policies
  • Perform inspections on all incoming parts and materials immediately upon arrival
  • Ensure parts with a shelf life limit are removed from inventory prior to expiration
  • Request Secondary Maintenance Checks following any maintenance, preventative maintenance, inspections, repairs or alterations
  • Ensure all company-owned and personal-owned calibrated tools are kept up to date on the company-calibrated tool tracking log for their assigned base or location
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities (KSA)
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Possess sound judgment and objectivity in decision-making
  • Proficient in aircraft maintenance, inspection and repair
  • A thorough knowledge of FARS, the General Operations Manual, Operations Specifications, and other pertinent information
  • Extensive knowledge of all aircraft mechanical systems functions and interactions
Education & Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Must possess a valid FAA Airframe and Powerplant Certificate
  • Inspection Authorization and/or FAR 135 experience a plus
  • Must possess a minimum of three (3) years turbine rotorcraft or airplane experience
Physical Demands
  • Walking, standing, pushing, pulling, reaching, bending, kneeling, squatting for extended periods of time
  • Climbing heights on various equipment
  • Lifting up to 50 or more pounds
  • Must have sufficient vision and ability to safely perform the essential functions of the position
  • Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) (High Visibility clothing, Ear protection, safety glasses) when required
Work Environment
  • Indoor/Outdoor environment with potential extreme hot and cold temperatures
  • Exposure to hazardous chemicals is possible
  • Moderate to loud noise level
  • Driving a company vehicle, a personal vehicle for company use, or other equipment
