Job summary

JE Dunn Construction is seeking an Assembly & Disassembly Technician to properly assemble, disassemble, and repair tower cranes, mobile cranes, and personnel hoists. You will interact professionally with customers and document all work accurately, ensuring equipment readiness and safety.

The role requires field work, some travel, and a commitment to company safety policies. A High School Diploma or GED is required, with welding/structural repair training preferred and 2+ years of crane

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; vocational welding/structural repair preferred.
• Equivalent relevant experience will be considered in lieu of formal requirements.
• 2+ years of crane assembly/disassembly experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assemble, disassemble and repair tower cranes, mobile cranes, and personnel hoists as directed.
• Conduct monthly equipment inspections and document findings.
• Identify and report equipment deficiencies and suggest solutions per specs and policy.
• Inspect equipment prior to rental to ensure safety and readiness.
• Maintain organized, clean workspaces and service trucks.
• Document maintenance and repairs on equipment per processes.
• Communicate with internal/external partners regarding maintenance questions.
• Perform field repairs on hoisting equipment on-site as needed.
• Coordinate receiving, shipping, and storage of hoisting parts.
• Participate in cycle counts to ensure record accuracy.
• Operate vehicles and equipment safely per safety policy.
• Keep warehouse facilities clean and organized.

Role Summary

The Assembly & Disassembly Technician will be responsible for proper assembly, disassembly and mechanical/structural repair of tower cranes, mobile cranes, and personnel hoists, professional customer interaction and accurate documentation. In addition, the Assembly & Disassembly Technician will work with other Blue Hat employees to ensure proper working order of all rental equipment, accuracy of equipment/material transfers and proper organization of fleet/inventory. All activities will be performed in support of the strategy, vision and values of JE Dunn.

Key Role Responsibilities - Core

ASSEMBLY & DISASSEMBLY TECHNICIAN FAMILY - CORE

• Assembles, disassembles and conducts mechanical/structural repairs on tower cranes, mobile cranes, and personnel hoists as directed.
• Conducts monthly equipment inspections and document findings as directed per the company process.
• Communicates all equipment deficiencies to the crew lead immediately and suggests proper solutions consistent with the manufacturers’ specifications and company policy.
• Inspects all equipment prior to rental/placing in service to ensure quality, safety and equipment readiness
• Maintains a clean, organized and secure workspace and service trucks, per company guidelines.
• Documents accurately (on paper or digitally) completed maintenance, repairs and inspections on hoisting equipment per company processes.
• Communicates in a timely manner with internal and external business partners by answering phone calls and responding to emails for maintenance related questions.
• Conducts field repairs on hoisting equipment on sites as needed
• Arranges the receiving, shipping and storing of hoisting parts as needed.
• Participates in periodic cycle counts of hoisting parts and equipment to ensure accuracy of records.
• Operates/drives vehicles and equipment in a safe and professional manner in line with company’s safety policy.
• Cleans and maintains warehouse facilities as directed.

Education

• High School Diploma or GED or equivalent (Required)
• Vocational school degree with welding/structural repair emphasis (Preferred)
• In lieu of the above requirements, equivalent relevant experience will be considered.

Experience

• 2+ years tower crane, mobile crane, or personnel hoist assembly/disassembly experience (Preferred)

Working Environment

• Must be able to lift at least to 50 pounds
• May require periods of overnight travel
• May be exposed to extreme conditions (hot or cold)
• Must be comfortable working at projected heights
• Frequent Activity: Standing, Walking, Lifting, Climbing, Bending, Reaching above Shoulder, Pushing, Pulling, Sitting
