Job summary

The Philadelphia School seeks a part-time leave replacement 8th Grade Math Teacher & Advisor for approximately Dec 14, 2026 – Feb 26, 2027. The 8th Grade Teaching Team supports diverse learners using progressive pedagogy and collaborative team planning in a Preschool–8 setting in Philadelphia, PA.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree in a related field preferred.
2+ years lead teaching experience strongly preferred.
Flexible, collaborative educator with a constructivist approach to teaching mathematics.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with families and colleagues.
Commitment to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging as integral to the curriculum.

Responsibilities

Adapt and implement inquiry-based math lessons aligned with progressive education.
Design and administer assessments to track student progress and inform instruction.
Participate in faculty meetings, grade-level teams, and curriculum planning groups.
Partner with families to support students’ mathematical development through conferences.
Support 8th Grade Capstone experiences and related projects.
