Job summary

The DC Army National Guard is seeking an Ammunition Specialist to manage receipt, storage, documentation, and issuance of conventional ammunition and related items. You will perform stock control, ensure proper handling, and follow safety procedures to support national defense.

Training includes Basic and Advanced Individual Training with paid instruction and benefits. This part-time role offers tuition assistance and career pathways in ordnance research and development while serving in the Army

Qualifications

• Requires ability to follow safety procedures and work with potentially hazardous materials.
• Interest in algebra, chemistry, physics, and related topics is beneficial.
• Must be able to pass a background check and meet eligibility for Army National Guard.

That makes the storage and distribution of ammunition - all ammunition - an undertaking of paramount importance. As the Ammunition Specialist, you’ll ensure this vital job is done correctly through precise handling, storage, and documentation of ordnance.

The primary responsibility of an Army National Guard Ammunition Specialist is to ensure the proper receipt, storage, documentation, and issuance of conventional ammunition, guided missiles, large rockets, and related items. These duties may include the inspection, modification, and demilitarization of various munitions. You will also learn how to maintain nuclear weapons, and how to handle, test, and maintain missiles and rockets.

Job Duties

• Operate computer hardware and software/utilities or keep manual records in order to perform stock control and accounting procedures
• Perform ammunition supply stock control and accounting duties using both automated and manual procedures
• Inspect weapon systems to determine need for repair or destruction

Get paid to learn! In the Army National Guard, you will learn valuable job skills while earning a regular paycheck and qualifying for tuition assistance.

Job training for an Ammunition Specialist consists of 10 weeks of Basic Training, where you'll learn basic Soldiering skills, as well as seven weeks of Advanced Individual Training. Part of this time is spent in the classroom and part in the field.

Requirements

• Military enlistment in the Army National Guard
• Must be at least a junior in high school, or have a high school diploma or a GED certificate
• Must be between the ages of 17 and 35
