Position Summary
  • Comply with standards of business conduct in accordance with federal, state, and local health and regulatory standards and guidelines.
  • Maintain compassion and dignity toward residents, adhering to the Resident Bill of Rights.
  • Perform duties in a clean, safe, and respectful environment.
  • Provide support during emergency situations (e.g., severe weather, evacuation).
Responsibilities / Accountabilities
  • Supervise and care for residents on a daily basis per work list and assignment.
  • Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, showering, dressing, oral hygiene, shaving, hair and fingernail care, toileting, and changing incontinence products.
  • Assist with the use of durable medical equipment (e.g., walkers, wheelchairs, canes) and provide occasional assistance with transfers using good body mechanics.
  • Observe and record medication administration and report refusals or reactions to the supervisor on duty.
  • Direct residents and family members to appropriate staff for additional needs or information.
  • Assist with ordering room service for residents when required.
  • Report and record changes in resident condition to the director or supervisor and transfer relevant information to the next shift through the 24‑hour shift report.
  • Provide assistance in the dining room and answer emergency calls promptly and courteously, completing required paperwork afterward.
  • Retrieve soiled linens and personal clothing from resident living areas, sort and pre‑soak linens before washing per the resident’s Plan of Care.
  • Maintain general upkeep and cleanliness of resident apartments or rooms, including emptying waste baskets, wiping spills, washing dishes, putting away clothes, and checking for spoiled food.
  • Identify and report unsecured throw rugs, extension cords, or other fire/fall hazards to maintain the No‑Fall Zone.
  • Observe room conditions, report needed repairs to maintenance or supervisor.
  • Document care given and refusals clearly and objectively.
  • Participate in in‑service educational programs as required by the community and state.
  • Record all care, maintain universal precautions, bloodborne pathogens, and biohazard precautions.
  • Promote positive public relations for the community.
  • Provide assistance with toileting, personal care, changing incontinence products, and passive range‑of‑motion exercises per the Plan of Care.
  • Perform other duties as required.
Requirements
  • Minimum educational requirement: high school diploma or GED.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • Must possess compassion, dignity, and a congenial work environment with peers.
  • Must adhere to Viva Senior Living’s attendance policies and employee handbook.
  • Must comply with all facility policies and procedures.
  • Physical: able to move intermittently throughout the workday, push/pull/ lift a minimum of 25 pounds to a height of 5 feet and carry up to 50 feet.
  • Must cope with mental and emotional stress of the position and work with ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset or agitated residents.
  • Must be fit for medical and physical examination as per facility policy.
  • May be required to assist in the evacuation of residents during emergency situations.
