Job summary

Parkridge is seeking a dedicated 6th Grade English Language Arts (ELA) / Social Studies Teacher to join our middle school team. You will plan and deliver standards-aligned instruction in ELA and Social Studies, fostering reading, writing, discussion, and critical thinking.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's degree in Education or related field, Louisiana teaching certification, and prior middle school ELA/Social Studies experience; strong classroom management and collaboration with families

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Education, English, Social Studies, History, or a related field.
• Louisiana teaching certification or enrollment in an approved alternative certification program.
• Experience teaching ELA and/or Social Studies at upper elementary or middle school level.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver standards-aligned instruction in 6th Grade English Language Arts and Social Studies.
• Develop engaging lessons that strengthen reading comprehension, writing, vocabulary, grammar, research, and communication skills.
• Provide Social Studies instruction that develops students' understanding of history, geography, culture, civics, and other content.
• Encourage critical thinking, discussion, collaboration, and independent learning.
• Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs.
• Assess student progress using formative and summative assessments and adjust instruction accordingly.
• Maintain a positive, structured, and respectful classroom environment through effective management.
• Incorporate technology and digital resources to enhance instruction.
• Maintain accurate records of grades, attendance, and progress.
• Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding progress and concerns.
• Collaborate with fellow teachers, administrators, and support staff to improve practices and outcomes.
• Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school events.
