Job Description

1st Shift 6S Assistant

Title: 6S Assistant

Shift: 1st, 8:00am - 4:00pm

Status: Hourly

Positions Available: 1

Reporting Relationship: Reports directly to the Project Manager.

Location: Mentor / Painesville, OH

Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred and may be substituted by experience.

Personal Characteristics: Able to meet deadlines and be accountable for quality. Have a history of dependability as demonstrated with strong attendance record. Strong sense of safety. Comfortable using a team approach to problem solving. Have a strong sense of urgency. Ability to provide creative solutions to simple problems. An individual must be a motivated self-starter with the ability to work independently. Maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that gets along with customers, clients, co-workers and supervisors.

Work Experience: Minimum of 1 year experience working in a manufacturing or industrial facility. Previous maintenance experience is a plus. Must have experience with power tools, machine shop tools, painting supplies, measuring devices, cutting tools, and fasteners.

Principal Area of Responsibility: The 6S Assistant will perform general installation, painting, cleaning, and basic maintenance duties in an industrial setting throughout the entire plant.

Specific Duties
  • Perform general responsibilities of cleaning, sweeping, and painting, including but not limited to equipment, walls, floors, and storage. Also assist with the management of cleaning and painting contractors.
  • Perform all responsibilities of the 6S Assistant.
  • Installation of signs using the proper nuts, bolts, and screws for different materials.
  • Take measurements for sourcing the proper equipment.
  • Ensure that the plant's high standard of housekeeping is met.
  • Install and upgrade computer mounts, machine mounts, and various other mounting apparatus around the plant.
  • Install machine guarding and walkway guarding.
  • Cut pieces of material to specifications and install using fasteners.
  • Have strong experience with power tools and workshop tools and use in a safe manner.
  • Experience with basic maintenance principles and basic maintenance of everyday equipment and very basic machinery. Ex: Desks, chairs, carts, etc..
  • Ability to sand and paint basic materials and flooring.
  • Experience working safely in a manufacturing facility.
  • Organize work areas for smooth operations. Ensure that required documentation is maintained in varied areas.
  • Perform other duties as designated by the supervisor.
  • Document relevant information from various meetings and report out on it to manager.
  • Maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that gets along with customers, clients, co-workers and supervisors.
  • Any and all additional responsibilities as required or assigned.
Physical and Mental Demands
  • Incumbent must physically and mentally perform the job demands as listed below.
  • The ability to handle high stress associated with high activity with tight deadlines.
  • Must be able to lift up to 35lbs.
  • Must be able to work in a team environment and group setting.
  • Must be able to adjust to daily/hourly changes in work tasks.
  • Physical surroundings vary from pleasant to extreme as regards to temperature, work position, physical effort and cleanliness.
