Job summary

Leech Lake Gaming is seeking a dedicated groundskeeper to maintain and landscape the casino grounds, and support vehicle maintenance. The role requires familiarity with lawn care equipment and safety practices.

The ideal candidate will have a GED or high school diploma, up to six months of related experience, and the ability to work varied shifts in a 24/7 environment. Training and background checks are part of the process.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Six months related experience preferred.
• Must meet tribal/state licensing requirements and pass background check.

Responsibilities

• Maintains landscape around Casino grounds, including snow removal and mowing.
• Provides general maintenance and repair for company vehicles.
• Keeps work area clean and safe.
• Adheres to all applicable rules and regulations.
• Maintains knowledge of events on the property.
• Attends mandatory meetings and training.

JOB DESCRIPTION: Responsible for maintaining the upkeep, cleanliness, repairs and landscape of the grounds surrounding the Casino.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Maintains landscape of the grounds surrounding the entire Casino structures including snow removal, mowing and raking the lawn, trash removal, etc.
• Provides general maintenance and repair service for company vehicles
• Maintains a clean work area
• Adheres to all rules and regulations pertaining to the Department.
• Maintains knowledge of all events in the property as a whole.
• Attends and/or facilitates all mandatory meetings and training.
• Maintains confidentiality at all times.
• Is sensitive to Native American Culture.
• Operates within the parameters of the Leech Lake Gaming Human Resource Policy, Departmental Policy Manual and all Tribal Internal Controls (TICs), and all other applicable regulations.
• Secures the assets of Leech Lake Gaming and the Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

• Ability to operate lawn machinery and small hand tools
• Valid Minnesota driver's license and be insurable
• Heavy equipment operator license beneficial
• Knowledge of hazardous chemicals and how to properly handle and mix them.
• Knowledge of sweeper, sprinkler system watering, pruning and trimming, mowing, weed eradication and prevention, care of flowering plants, trees, baler and recycling
• Landscaping experience helpful
• Knowledge of riding lawn mower and snow plows
• Knowledge of how to change the oil in snowplows, riding lawn mowers, weed trimmers and edger
• Must be flexible in working various hours, shifts, weekends and holidays

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Prolonged standing and walking is required.
• Must be able to life and carry a minimum of 50 pounds.
• Subject to internal working conditions, including a smoking environment.
• Subject to external working conditions including extreme weather conditions.

EDUCATION AND SKILLS

Education Required:

High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED)

Experience:

Six months related experience

Certificates & Licenses:

Must meet Tribal/State compact licensing requirements, pass criminal background check and submit to drug testing.
