Job summary

Venture Community Services is hiring a Direct Support Professional to empower adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Gardner, MA. The role involves assisting with daily living activities, transportation, and community involvement, with paid training and ongoing education opportunities.

Paid orientation, CPR/First Aid, MAP training, and other program trainings are provided. Sign-on bonuses are available for both full-time and part-time staff to support a welcoming, inclusive

Qualifications

• Must be 21+ with reliable transportation and a valid driver's license.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Experience in a residential setting with highly behavioral individuals.
• Must speak, read and write fluent English.

Responsibilities

• Advocate for and support adults 22+ with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
• Assist with household tasks, meals, shopping, bathing, dressing and daily living needs.
• Accompany to medical appointments and community activities; outings as needed.
• Administer medications per plan and follow behavior/individual support plans.

Schedule: Sun 9a-11p, Mon 3p-11p, Sat 9a-11p

Part Time: 36 Hours

Pay Rate: $17.50 - $19.00 (Paid Training!)

Location: Gardner, MA

Sign On Bonus: $1000 for Full Time and $500 for Part Time employees

The Direct Support Professional (DSP) is responsible for advocating and supporting adults 22 and over with intellectual and developmental disabilities by empowering them to be as active in their lives as they can. Their support needs include, but are not limited to, household maintenance, meal prep, shopping, bathing, toileting, dressing, teeth brushing, etc…so that they may always look and feel their best. The DSP may be asked to assist them to their medical appointments, banking, assist them to become active members of their community, attend outings, administer medications, follow Behavior Support Plans, Individual Support Plans and goals, and to follow medical guidelines that are in place.

DSP workers are provided paid New Employee Orientation, paid CPR/First Aid, PABC, Defensive Driving, and Medication Administration Program (MAP), as well as program and person specific training at the individuals’ home. The DSP must be able to safely evacuate individuals from the home in the event of an emergency.

DSP workers must maintain certifications, handle job related duties in compliance with Agency policies and follow all DDS regulations/policies.
