The role requires completion of the school food personnel certification course and ability to assist with inventory, records, and occasional events.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of quantity food service preparation, serving and storage.
• Sanitation and safety practices for handling, cooking, baking and serving food.
• Methods of preparing and serving food in large quantities.
• Ability to adjust and extend recipes and proper substitutions.
• Basic record-keeping and math skills.
• Basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, cook, bake and serve foods in quantity.
• Prepare and serve food in accordance with health and sanitation regulations.
• Operate standard kitchen equipment including dish machine, slicer, ovens, and POS.
• Prepare nutritious meals for students and staff.
• Lift, bend, reach and stand.
• Follow and adapt recipes as needed.
• Communicate effectively in writing and speech.
• Able to lift up to 35 lbs regularly and up to 50 lbs occasionally.
• Maintain routine records and meet schedules.
• Establish cooperative working relationships and plan/organize work.
• Observe health and safety regulations.
• Read/write at required level for job performance.
• Ensure replenishment of food during meal service periods.
• Assist in daily cleaning and maintenance of kitchen and storage areas.
• Take initiative and complete tasks efficiently.
• May handle money.
