Job summary

Nebraska Medicine in Omaha, NE is seeking a CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) to join a 40-bed medical-surgical unit on third shift (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM). This role provides a solid foundation to grow your nursing career while assisting a diverse patient population.

You will support licensed nurses with delegated patient activities, communicate effectively, and contribute to a collaborative, patient-centered environment.

Qualifications

  • Minimum age 16 years.
  • Certified Nursing Assistant certification in Nebraska required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of hire from an AHA-endorsed program.
  • Effective communication skills required.
  • Knowledge of computer data entry and word processing preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform delegated patient activities as assigned by licensed nursing personnel for the achievement of the patient’s plan of care.
  • Support nursing team in med-surg unit routines while ensuring patient safety and comfort.

The CNA in this role would be working on a 40-bed med-surg unit that is a great foundation from which to start and grow your nursing career. The unit cares for a wide variety of patients, allowing nurses to work with different patient populations and get a feel for what they like. They gain experience in titratable drips, chest tubes, tracheostomies, wound cares, high-oxygen delivery systems, and end-of-life care. The unit is known for innovation and teamwork due to its pilot programs and strategic thinking and its culture focuses on positivity and solutions over problems. Its nursing care delivery model is designed for efficiency and staffing models are based on patient acuity.
