Job summary

Normandin Middle School in New Bedford, MA is seeking a 6.5 Hour Cafeteria Worker to join our food service team. This entry level role reports to the Food Service Director and Cafeteria Manager, performing unskilled duties related to food service and general labor while supporting kitchen staff.

Responsibilities include receiving and storing supplies, stocking, serving student lunch, cleaning, and following the AFSCME contract guidelines.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of safe handling of cleaning solutions and equipment.
• Basic knowledge of food sanitation procedures.

Position:

• 6.5 Hour Cafeteria Worker

Summary:

• This is an entry level position with no minimum requirements of a high school diploma or GED. This position is under the supervision of the Food Service Director, Principal and Cafeteria Manager who is responsible to coordinate the necessary work of the department. This position performs a variety of unskilled duties related to food service areas and general manual labor tasks.

• Carry food supplies, equipment and utensils to and from storage and work areas
• Assist kitchen staff with various tasks as needed, and provide cooks with needed items
• Stock and organize goods
• Responsible for equipment handling rules
• Wash dry and store pots and pans
• Prepare sandwiches
• Set up and serve student lunch line in a timely manner
• Clean up serving area, tables and carts
• Sweep and wash kitchen floors
• Set up, run and clean dishwasher equipment

• Follow work schedules as assigned by food service Director/ cafeteria manager
