The position of a 5-hour cook/Cashier is now open. Please note the job description is attached. This is a 9 month – 189 days at 5 hours per day total of 945 hours per year position as per salary schedule.

J OB DESCRIPTION – CLASSIFIED

TITLE: Cook/Cashier

RESPONSIBLE TO: Nutrition Services Supervisor

DEPARTMENT: Nutritional Services

CLASSIFICATION: Cook

LENGTH OF CONTRACT: Nine-month contract – 189 days 5 hours per day

GENERAL DUTIES: Food preparation, kitchen and equipment operation and sanitation, preparing reports, operating a cash register, basic computer skills and other related tasks as assigned.

SPECIFIC DUTIES:

  • Performs the duties (SOP) assigned daily by the Head Cook/Nutrition ServicesSupervisor. Assists in the preparation and service of all menu items.
  • Cooperates with the Head Cook/Nutrition Services Supervisor and other staff to ensure serving timelines are met.
  • Maintains a clean and orderly work area including proper cleaning of kitchen equipment as set forth by the district, equipment manufacturer and the local health department. Operates all commercial kitchen appliances and equipment as instructed.
  • The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear; taste and smell. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. You must be capable of lifting up to 30 pounds.
  • High school diploma or the equivalent would be preferred.
  • Basic cooking skills are required. Must be able to read and interpret instructions on a recipe or cooking guidelines for a product. Must be able to fill out a production record or receive orders accurately.
  • Basic math skills required.
  • Basic computer skills are required including answering district email and using appropriate call off procedures.
  • The applicant may be required to operate a cash register, handle cash, count back change or credit card transactions.
  • The applicant must be willing to participate in mandatory professional development as outlined by the Ohio Department of Education/Child Nutrition regulations, state and local health department and the Marion City School district. This includes obtaining a Servsafe Certification at the level appropriate to the position.
  • The qualified applicant may be asked to take a pre-employment test specific to the nutrition service department.
  • Performs other related duties and tasks as assigned by the Head Cook and/or Nutrition Services Supervisor.

Please note that this job description is for a cook position for the Marion City Schools district, not specific to a building. Buildings may or may not serve students directly. Some buildings may serve the general public or be a satellite location supporting programs other than the National School Lunch Program. Assignments to a building are based off on open positions, student enrollment and/or participation in our other programs.
