Job summary

Boone County Schools is seeking a qualified Guidance Counselor - Elementary for Yealey Elementary School for a one-year term. The role reports to the Principal/Executive Director Student Services and focuses on providing comprehensive counseling services to students with collaboration from staff and families.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in guidance counseling is required.
• Valid Kentucky certificate as elementary guidance counselor is required.
• Demonstrated ability to work and communicate effectively with students, parents, staff and community.

Responsibilities

• Provide counseling and guidance activities for students through individual or group settings as needed.
• Provide orientation services for new students.
• Assist with pre-screening of kindergarten students.
• Serve as a consultant with student placement.
• Assist in maintaining appropriate student files and records.
• Provide consulting services to parents and faculty members.
• May be principals' designee to the admissions and release committee.
• Coordinate the school's state mandated testing program.
• Evaluate the school's guidance program annually.
• Provide consulting services with school and community resources on behalf of students.
• Maintain professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the District and other self-selected professional growth activities.
• Complete both District required in-service training as well as the state mandated Effective Instructional Leadership Training.
• Continue successful completion of graduate level courses until standard certification from the Kentucky Department of Education is obtained.
• Perform other duties consistent with the position assigned as may be requested by the supervisor
