Job Summary

Operating under the direction of the School Principal, the High School Teacher is responsible for planning and delivering engaging, rigorous instruction aligned with state standards and content-area and district expectations . The teacher fosters a safe, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment that promotes academic achievement, social-emotional growth, and positive behavior. Responsibilities include assessing student progress, differentiating instruction to meet diverse learning needs, and maintaining clear communication with students and families. The teacher collaborates with colleagues and administrators to support and encourage student success.

Job Responsibility Description
  • Plan and deliver engaging, standards-aligned instruction within assigned content areas using district adopted resources when available
  • Design lessons that promote critical thinking, problem-solving, and subject mastery
  • Use a variety of instructional strategies and technologies to support diverse learning styles
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the academic needs of all learners
  • Prepare instructional materials and resources to enhance student engagement
  • Instruct students in large, small, and one-on-one situations
  • Create and maintain a safe, inclusive, and respectful classroom environment
  • Establish clear expectations for behavior, academic integrity, and classroom routines aligned with school-wide policies and procedures
  • Foster positive relationships with students to support engagement and accountability
  • Support students' social-emotional development and overall well-being
  • Encourage student responsibility, independence, and self-advocacy
  • Implements and monitors student-specific plans (ex: 504s, IEPs) with accuracy and fidelity to ensure appropriate supports and compliance.
Assessment & Student Progress Monitoring
  • Develop and administer formative and summative assessments aligned with learning objectives
  • Monitor and evaluate student progress to inform instruction and intervention
  • Provide timely, constructive feedback to support student growth
  • Maintain accurate records of student performance and achievement
  • Adjust instructional practices based on assessment data and student needs
Family Communication & Engagement
  • Maintain open and effective communication with students and families regarding progress
  • Collaborate with parents and guardians to support academic and behavioral success
  • Participate in conferences, meetings, and school events as needed
  • Share resources and strategies to support learning beyond the classroom
Collaboration & Professional Responsibilities

Other Duties

This position will have 2 sections of high school English, the remainder of the day will be time to coordinate, communicate, and oversee 504 plans at GJHS.

Education and Experience

Acceptable demonstration of acceptable education and/or experience will be at the sole discretion of the District.

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree and eligible for appropriate Colorado teaching license
  • Experience instructing students in a classroom setting is preferred
Working Conditions

188 days / year

Selection Procedure

Position is posted to internal transfers for a minimum of seven (7) calendar days or open until filled.

Salary & Benefits

Teacher Base Pay Salary Schedule Range: $50,765 - $105,998 based on one (1) FTE at one hundred eighty eight (188) days.

Hiring Range for External Candidates: $50,765 - $87,145

  • Teachers are initially placed according to experience. Teachers new to the District may be granted up to 15 years of experience, provided the experience occurred within the last 20 years in accordance with the MVEA Agreement.
