Job summary

Howmet Aerospace on-site in Brea, CA is seeking a tapping machine operator to produce parts per specifications and instructions. You will read drawings, follow work instructions, and monitor operation to detect malfunctions, adjusting controls as needed.

Responsibilities also include inspecting parts with micrometers and calipers and maintaining tooling. Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or GED and 0–3 years in a manufacturing environment or related experience.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Working experience of manufacturing environment.
  • A minimum of 0-3 years related industrial machine shop experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Understands and uses drawings, manuals, and work instructions to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work-piece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.
  • Starts and observes on-going machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, and adjusts machine controls or control media as required.
  • Verifies conformance of finished work-piece to specifications.
  • Inspects parts for quality and appropriate tolerance using measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, and comparators.
  • Understands tapping sequence.
  • Keeps tooling clean and in working order.
