Job summary

N-K Manufacturing Technologies in Grand Rapids, MI is seeking a shipping/receiving associate to prepare items for shipment and verify records. You will count, weigh, and measure shipments, determine shipping methods, label crates, and apply postage.

You will unpack received goods, handle damaged items with shippers, inspect outgoing shipments, and support inventory and production staging. This role also maintains 5S standards and helps with period-end inventory.

Qualifications

  • Basic warehouse or shipping/receiving experience preferred.
  • Ability to follow documented procedures and safety rules.
  • Proficiency with basic measurement and counting tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Counts, weighs, and measures incoming and outgoing shipments to verify against records.
  • Determines the appropriate method of shipment.
  • Labels and marks crates/containers with shipping information and instructions.
  • Posts weights and applies postage as required.
  • Unpacks shipments, rejects damaged items, and communicates with shippers to rectify issues.

  • Maintains inventory of shipping materials and supplies.
  • Stages materials for production.
  • Assists with period-end inventory.

Summary:

This position prepares items for shipment. Verifies and keeps records of incoming and outgoing shipments.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Counts, weighs, measures and/or compares identifying information of incoming and outgoing shipments for verification against bill of lading, invoices, orders or other records.
  • Determines the appropriate method of shipment.
  • Affixes shipping labels, stamps/stencils/or glues identifying information and shipping instructions on crates and/or containers.
  • Posts weights and affixes appropriate postage.
  • Unpacks and examines incoming shipments, rejects damaged items, records shortages and correspondence with shipper to rectify damages and shortages. Routes items to proper department.
  • Examines outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet specifications.
  • Maintains inventory of shipping materials and supplies.
  • Stage material for production.
  • Assist with period-end inventory.
  • Moves material from shipping and receiving platform to storage or work area.
  • Maintain 5S standards.
