Job summary

Avient in Phoenix is seeking a Production Operator to set up and operate equipment that blends and processes chemicals for our customer products. This role emphasizes safety, quality, and cost efficiency, with active data recording and routine machine maintenance.

You will weigh ingredients, monitor processes, take samples for lab evaluation, and document logs. Overtime and night shift are required; a competitive benefits package includes medical coverage from day one and a 401(k) plan.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED or equivalent training & experience.
• Experience in industrial operations preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules and operating instructions.
• Must have mathematical skills for conversions and unit handling.

• Weighs ingredients to meet recipe specifications and loads into machinery.
• Monitors production and equipment for safe, efficient operation.

Troubleshoots equipment and processing issues• Operates machinery to mix, extrude/discharge or handle materials• May take samples of materials to lab for evaluation and instructions on any batch adjustments if needed• Performs all required machine cleaning• Documents work completed as required including logs, data reports, procedures, etc.• Refers issues/problems to Production Lead or Production/Shift Supervisor for disposition• Completes and maintains all required system inputs/transactions. Responsible for data integrity• Participates in training, retraining and continual improvement processes and methods• Follows and complies with all safety and work rules and regulations. Maintains departmental housekeeping standards•Other projects / duties as assignedQualifications• Proven extruder or machine operating experience• High School diploma, General Education Diploma (GED) or equivalent training & experience• Work experience in an industrial operations environment preferred• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, or procedure manuals• Must have mathematical skills to add, subtract, multiply and divide. Must have the ability to use conversions, work with different units such as weight, volume, density, distance, etc.• Cross Functional – Problem Solving Techniques• Preferred Forklift experiencePhysical Demands• Requires standing and sitting for extended periods of time, talking and listening• Must be able to walk and use hands. Occasionally requires bending, stooping, climbing ladders and stairs• May occasionally be required to lift, push or pull up to 50 pounds• Ability to frequently communicate and understand work instructions and information in a fast-paced manufacturing environment where noise level is loud.• Must be able to detect and discern safety alarms and respond accordingly.• Generally requires the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, hearing protection, hard hat, respiratory protection• Exposure to outside weather conditions is routine• May be exposed to working in extreme heat and humidity• May also be exposed on occasion to dust or fumesFinal compensation within this range may vary based on factors including but not limited to background, knowledge, skills, and abilities as well as geographic location of the position.
