Job summary

Dover Food Retail is seeking a Material Handler II Water Spider for the 3rd shift in our Operations department. The role focuses on understanding department processes, tracking parts, resolving issues, and supporting multiple teams to keep production moving.

Responsibilities include reading job orders and schematics, identifying parts with tools, and participating in lean initiatives and continuous improvement. A safety‑minded, team player with a high school diploma is required.

Job Title: Material Handler II 53 Water Spider (Sheet metal, Welding, Paint, Kitting)

FLSA Status: Hourly / Non-Exempt

What We Are Looking For

The Water Spider is responsible for understanding the department 006s processes and needs to provide support to assigned department such as tracking down parts, resolving issues, and communicating with team members as well as across different departments.

What You 0ll Be Responsible For In This Role

  • Demonstrated understanding of production operations
  • Assist assigned department with tracking parts, resolving issues, and communicating with team members
  • Assume some or all Lead responsibilities when needed
  • Assume other activities and responsibilities from time-to-time as directed by supervisor
  • Read and comprehend a job order, bill of materials, blueprint, text, or schematic drawings
  • Identify parts and part descriptions using work order information and identify proper tools needed to perform duties in respective area
  • Assist with lean initiatives on the floor and participate and/or lead continuous improvement events
  • Must be able to adapt to rapidly changing situations
  • Organize and realign tables from cutting to the press breaks for bending.
  • Help sort and coordinate outsourced parts and incorporate them into the correct color.
  • Track and deliver expedited parts from Fab and Fab support areas to the correct line.
  • Utilize appropriate information given on material gauging and dimensioning
  • Read rulers, tape measurers, metal squares, and other measuring instruments
  • Identify maintenance needed on equipment and tooling
  • Maintain the work area in a clean, safe, and orderly manner
  • Use proper safety equipment and apparel required for each operation in each product line or work cell
  • Perform other duties as assigned

What are the basic qualifications?

  • High School Diploma/GED required
  • Minimum of three (3) years relevant experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment

  • Frequently 006 Standing, Reaching, Foot Use, Visual Acuity (Near/Far), and Lift/Carry up to 25lbs.
  • Constantly 006 Walking and Lift/Carry up to 10lbs.
  • Occasionally 006 Occurs up to 1/3 of the time
  • Frequently 006 Occurs 1/3 to 2/3 of the time
  • Constantly 006 Occurs 2/3 or more of the time
