Job summary

R.M. Palmer Company, LLC is seeking a 3rd Shift Maintenance Supervisor to direct all maintenance functions, ensuring safe and efficient manufacturing operations.

You will lead the hourly workforce, manage task assignments, and coordinate with contractors while upholding GMP and OSHA standards. The role emphasizes preventive maintenance, downtime analysis, and continuous improvement through TPM, Lean, and RCA methodologies, with a focus on reliability and teamwork to keep production running

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of maintenance experience in a plant/manufacturing environment.
• At least 3 years of supervisory or management experience.
• Food or beverage industry experience preferred.
• Proficient in Lean Manufacturing principles (Six Sigma, TPM, 5S).
• Strong knowledge of maintenance CMMS systems.
• Excellent leadership and team management skills.
• Ability to prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced environment while optimizing equipment reliability.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Thorough knowledge of maintenance best practices, GMP, OSHA, and quality control procedures.
• Flexible with shift start/end times, able to work off-shifts and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and correct malfunctions in machinery and equipment.
• Develop cost-effective preventative maintenance procedures to extend equipment life.

• Analyze downtime trends and drive continuous plant performance improvements.
• Lead reliability improvements using TPM, Lean, RCA, and other tools.

The Maintenance Supervisor will direct all functions of the maintenance work force for their assigned shift, ensuring efficient manufacturing process capabilities, adherence to safety and quality standards, and effective team leadership.

Maintenance Supervisor Duties:

• Provide daily supervisory leadership to the hourly maintenance workforce, and oversees any necessary onsite maintenance contractor coordination.
• Provide individual team member job assignments and track the progress to completion.
• Provides supervisory assistance to the maintenance team in diagnosing and correcting malfunctions in machinery and equipment
• Provide input into the development of preventative maintenance procedures that are cost effective and increase the operational life of the equipment.
• Assists with developing maintenance department employee relations by continued communication of all information affecting them and through the conduct of regular shift team meetings.
• Enforce safety policies by conducting inspections, hazard assessments, and ensuring OSHA and company compliance.
• Ensure accurate documentation of maintenance activities using the CMMS system, maintaining records of repairs, parts usage, and inspections.
• Analyze downtime trends and track maintenance metrics to drive continuous improvement in plant performance.
• Assists with and leads the implementation of reliability process improvement through TPM, Lean, Autonomous Maintenance, Root Cause Analysis, and other reliability tools, including leading change initiatives, planning, and facilitation.

• Minimum 5 years of maintenance experience in a plant or manufacturing environment
• At least 3 years of supervisory or management experience
• Associates or Bachelor’s degree preferred
• Food or beverage industry experience preferred
• Proficient in Lean Manufacturing principles (Six Sigma, TPM, 5S, and other disciplines)
• Skilled in Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FMEA), and problem-solving methods (DMAIC, 5-Why, A3)
• Strong knowledge of maintenance CMMS systems
• Excellent leadership and team management skills
• Ability to prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced environment while optimizing equipment reliability
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Thorough knowledge of maintenance best practices, GMP, OSHA, and quality control procedures
• Flexible with shift start/end times, able to work off-shifts and weekends, and attend off-shift meetings as needed
